How to Convert DVDs to DLNA NAS post #1  quote:

Summary: Here?s an easy and quick way to copy DVD movies to DLNA NAS for streaming widely by ripping DVD to DLNA NAS friendly video format.

I want to take my DVDs and stream them to my HTPC using a DLNA certified NAS device. I've been doing research how to copy DVD movies to DLNA NAS and got some clues. Anyhow it is not a hard job as long as you rip your DVD to DNLA NAS friendly video type. If you are just looking for a way to stream DVD files via DLNA NAS, just get some tips you want from this article.

Generally, if you want to expand your streaming to other devices, DLNA NAS is an optimal choice. However, any DLNA NAS device can?t support DVD format directly. To copy dozens of DVD movies to DLNA NAS, you need to get the content off the DVD disc as a protection-free and easily readable element for NAS. In this case, Brorsoft DVD Ripper can give you a big hand that enables you to backup DVD to DLNA NAS easily.

The program takes everything from the DVD, including the chapters, extras, and subtitles bypassing DVD copy protection. It is capable of ripping DVD to MP4, AVI, MKV for NAS streaming with no quality loss. And what I?ve learned is that MPEG-4 would be one best target format for it is fully compatible with nearly all DLNA NAS devices. If you are running on Mac OS X, turn to DVD Ripper for Mac. If you haven?t got the software, download it now and let?s start the conversion.

Ripping and copying DVDs to DLNA certified NAS devices

1. Add DVD movies

Launch the DVD ripping program for NAS devices . Then click "Load DVD" to import the DVD files you want to convert. To select the subtitles you like, simply click Subtitle and select the one you prefer. P.S. Before start the conversion, you can choose to backup DVD main movies.

2. Choose output format

Click Format bar and choose your desired format. To store hundreds of DVD's on NAS, you can rip DVD to .mp4, or .avi, .mkv, etc compressed format. And for streaming DVD files to DLNA NAS, MPEG-4 is the best format you can set.

Tip: By clicking Settings bar, you can adjust the level of compression to suit the quality you want. And for DLNA streaming, select a proper bitrate and resolution based on your WLAN bandwidth.

3. Start ripping

The last step is to click ?Convert? (Arrow button) to start ripping your DVD to DNLA NAS. After the conversion, you can get the resulted videos by clicking the Open button. Afterwards, just stream your DVD via DLNA NAS for sharing. Enjoy.
