It's the deadliest conflict since WWII. More than 5 million people have died , yet it goes virtually unnoticed and unreported by the CORPORATE MEDIA in the U.S.
The conflict is in the DEMOCRATIC Republic of Congo, in Central Africa. The root of conflict are the natural resources of the country and MULTINATIONAL corporations that are extracting them.
In the latest mortality report, the International Rescue Committee says a 5.4 million "excess deaths" have occured in Congo since 1998 - a loss of life on the scale of Sept. 11 occuring every 2 days, in a country whose population is 1/6 of our own. ( genocide)
Sexual terrorism where Congolese women (and children)are being raped to the point where they are " completely destroyed". " acts of rape that involve insertion of sticks, guns and molten plastic".(genocide)
Corporations that are blamed for the violence are Cleveland-based OM GROUP, the world's leading producer of cobalt-based speciality chemicals and the Boston-based chemical giant CABOT CORP.
"The Congo has tremendous natural resources: 30 percent of the world's cobalt, 10 percent of the world's copper, 80 percent of the world's reserves of coltan ( critical componet used in all cell phones and other consumer electronics).
" How could close to 6 million people die from war in one country in less than a decade and go virtually unnoticed in the U.S.?
I am only going to say this. You Malcolm care not one iota for the African countires or thier people all you see is a people who you think are the same as you and thats only based on colour and you then have the gall to pretend that you care when in truth you only want to wage your own war on whites, Fox, MNC's and anyone else you perceive to have held you back in life and African problems aree a good place to start.

The media today is controlled by corporations and the only news were getting over here ( U.S.) is Britney Spears or president elections.
Jay Leno does skit where he goes into the streets to ask people simple questions. You would cry if you here some of the answeres given. The only news we know about Africa is the scam "Save Sudan."
Actually I think Malcolm is right here's why. It's pretty common knowledge that it was the actions of the Congolese "government" that pretty much caused Africas WW2 but when yoiu look at the supporters of that government well you can see that these peace loving leaders must be right after who would not want these countries as your allies :-

Look at the record Angola, Chad and Namibia have had 3 of the most vicious civil wars in African history so well they must be the experts. so they can advise while Sudan tells the Congo government to call any UN help an invasion while Zimbabwe try and find a way to blame the Brits and the BBC for all the trouble. meanwhile you can dream up foreign MNC;s that are raping the congo of it's natural resources while convincing yourself a US spec ops team is in Congo planning an invasion and you can destroy all charities by smearing them all.
If you all work together you will kill another 5 million Africans but that would make you happy malcolm because then yolu could go on yet another brainless tirade on this site about how it's a white right wing conspiracy for oil.
But you are against any help to or anyone trying to help Africa and you see to be admire or support the dictators and those who try to hinder or hurt Africa thats hardly the kind of person who is someone who likes Africa.

I do not LIKE Africa, WE are from Africa. WE are commited for Africa regardless of (shallow) feelings.

You know Malcolm thats the typicasl response that keep Africa and it's people back, this whole blame somebody else who was here about 50 years ago for our modernday problems and our mistakes.
