This hypothesis, although it may seem surprising, was thought up by a 10-year old girl called Preetha, while the author of the website (aktua.org) and Preetha were talking about poverty during a train journey in Southern India: "I am sure that if all the adults from rich countries saved a dime every day for a year, they would have enough money to ensure schooling for every child in poor countries" .
Of course it is obvious that the main problems in the world are NOT solved by gathering money together and pouring it into the Third World, it has been proved time and again that this kind of aid assistance does not work. Nevertheless, reflections like Preetha's are particularly valuable in making us aware of the hypocrisy in which we, in rich countries, are immersed in our everyday lives.
As the author says, a vision focussed on development is needed, and especially a change in the political, economic and social models which generate and increase difference and injustice in the world.
I recommend you to read the full story in aktua.org
