To regulars or newbies, I was wondering what ideas you had to make INR better for everyone. This isn't exactly a poll, but rather an open thread to voice likes, dislikes, comments and suggestions. No holds barred, let's hear it.
I dont know what could happen to improve this site.
It's gotten a bit slow around here lately and I must admit I have been shirking my usual..er...duties in the sports section lately which I must beat myself around the head a couple of time to get back to it.
Perhaps a re-design would do this site well or new topics... I just dont know.

Honestly, the format of the site, as well as the forums make this a great place, it just needs to be put out there a bit more. I know I'm new here, but so far this is one of the better sites I've seen. A new look might help a bit, as well as maybe some advertising (if at all possible) even if by word of mouth.
I've tried to get some people over here, and it may work just yet. No worries, I'm not spamming anywhere else, just sending private messages to other people I know on other boards. I don't think new topics would hurt, although I think what you've got is a better selection than whatever else you'll find out there. If you remove some of them, you might make this a carbon copy of pretty much every other board out there.
Just my opinions, and I've got more where they came from.

See, this place was hopping a few years ago. That was the time that all opinions were allowed no matter what. I mean, heated debates were allowed without others coming in and stopping it for their "friends." (see the old Iraq threads...I mean the ones from years back and the old American Idol threads, etc...)
This place got caught up with friends running it and it became a place for them to voice what they thought but they put a stop to others doing the same thing...unless of course they were agreeing with them.
So, I think going back to what it used to be is the thing. Thats when this place was at its prime. Look at how it was then and then see the change when some of those people got in charge and you will see that this is when this place fell apart.
Change the looks, add more topics...whatever....but most important, allow people to talk without the BS involved!!!!
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)

Ah, see, I had no idea of those incidents, although I have to say, that's similar to the reasons I left the site I used to frequent and found this site. I would agree.

I have to say, in the earlier days it was fun to watch/be involved in a thread that got into a ridiculously heated debate without getting closed or sent to the Flamer's Ward.
Maybe part of the problem was that there were a bunch of people that had been on this site for a long time and so actually started to get to know each other. One of the important things about the web is its anonymity and we started to lose some of that here.
I don't think any change is needed, just sit back and see what happens.
I just think that at one point this place got filled with to many cliques. In the 9/11 forum you had people like curly joe and USA1 ( who could have been the same person) and while I was nevere in it I belive the Potter and Matrix and Scott Petersen threads had these groups too. Now if what Mystic has said ( and lets not forget she is not the only person to make accusations aginast the same people) is true then it is a sad state of affairs and maybe just maybe in future we as members should have to vote in senior mods and if any mod is seen to be in a clique and using thier status to be biased/ bully any other meber then thier status should be removed.
Hey! I haven't been here for a very long time. I left specifically because of a few people who really made this forum like high school. They were like dictators around here and made anyone who didn't agree with them and their "friends" feel unwelcome. When I spoke out about it and tried to give good feedback about things that would improve this fourm, I got slammed, so I decided to just leave. I didn't have the time or energy for a place like this when there are so many awesome forums on the internet. I see those people haven't been around for awhile, so I think you guys stand a good chance of getting this website back on track.
My best advice...
Encourange everyone to discuss their opinions without the staff favoring the people who only agree with them.
Discourage low quality posts that serve no purpose other than to boost post counts. They're annoying and make navigating the threads difficult
Be friendly to EVERYONE. For a long time that wasn't happening.
I think that someone should review Inreview.com and sort out what needs to be here and what doesn't. I notice that 'hot topics' aren't really hot anymore and havent been for a good few months but they are still up in that section. And there are a few old topics that need to be sorted away due to lack of interest. So that is something that could be sorted.
Also I was wondering why there wasn't anything up about the new Pirates of the Carribean film, I haven't seen it yet but as I recall it was quite popular the last time round.

I am becoming increasingly agrovated with members signing up to the site only to advertise some product they or someone they work for are selling. There should be some king of rule against people being allowed to do that.
