The Scots look to be in a strong position to qualify for Euro 2008 as they sit proudly at the top of their..."easy" group, in front of such minows as France and Italy.
England however flounder in their attempt to qualify as they failed to defeat an Isreali team that they dominated for the vast majority of the game and now sit behind Croatia and Guss Hiddinks Russia.
The Republic of Ireland sit third in their group, level on points with the Czech Rep and three point behind Germany, after having ended Wales chance of qualifying with a 1-0 victory over them.
Northern Ireland however are second in their group, two points behind Sweden, three point in front of Denmark and four point in front of Spain.
So this could be the time when Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland finally surpass England at the international level.
Can't believe that we are sitting in a position where not 1 British team could make Euro 2008.
Scotland must beat Italy which will be tough but the Italians have never won on Scottish soil and the Scots are in a win, win situation.
England need Russia and Croatia to lose thier next games can't see Croatia getting beat of Macedonia but Russia have a tough game against Israel and they might struggle but if Russia do go on and win then it's lights out for England and maybe Mclaren?
Wales and the 2 Irelands were both gone a long time a go and foir the republic at least I think it's rebuilding time with a young team emphasis. So for them it's better luck in the world cup qualifiers.
Hopefully Scotland and England will make it but if I had to pick one it would obviously be Scotland.
BTW if you want to watch a real physical battle on Saturday watch Gattuso V Brown high odds that one will be sent off for trying to decapitate the other
So useless England are let off in the final moment of the tournament and Scotand are robbed by the Cheating Italians. All in all a typical day for the British team...England gets all the luck and Scotland gets nothing....a typically unfair scenario.

Had we been beaten fair and square I could have handled it but to be beaten by an incompotent linesman and a useless referee is a little more hard to stomach. On the pluys side pot 2 for the World cup is pretty good and it's looking like the good young players just keep coming players likie McCormack, Fraser, Fleck, Stevenson and Chisolm are the ones to watch.
At least you have something to build on now. Perhaps in the future you can usurp England's position as the best of the British teams. After all Scottish Premier league teams are using Scot and English Premier league teams are using more and more foreigners.
The Scots have more a chance to improve in the coming years than the English do...well probably still be stuck in this continuing mediocrity in 100 year time.
