What is your take on all the coaching changes in the NFL?
I was surprised that Norv Turner got the job at San Diego because I just don't see him as a successful head coach. A successful quarterback coach or offensive coordinator -- yes, but not a head coach.
It will be interesting to see how Wade Phillips does at Dallas. He has good genes (Bum Phillips (former Houston Oiler head coach) is his father) and he has done well in the NFL as a defensive coordinator.
Marty getting the boot in San Diego has to be the lamest move by any team this season. They wait until all the other viable coaching prospects are taken, wait until Wade Phillips leaves, then are forced to settle for what, Norv Turner and Ron Rivera? Please.
Norv couldn't get it done in Oakland, he couldn't get it done in Washington. There's no doubt he'll post a winning record in San Diego. No 14-2 again. But this team could run on auto-pilot and easily pull 10 wins. This team is still a contendar but Norv will have little to do with their future success.

I have to agree with you. How can you let a coach go that got you to the playoffs and a 14-2 record? Sure, he has a hard time in the playoffs; but it took Dungy 10 years at Indianappolis to make it to the Super Bowl. Where was management's head in all this?
The problem is A.J. Smith, the General Manager for the Chargers didn't get along with Marty. Not at all. They've had problems for a while and people were saying before the playoffs anything short of a Super Bowl win and Marty could be out on his butt.
14-2 is the third best record you can have in a season! You only lost two freakin' games. Sure, that doesn't guarantee a Super Bowl (my Rams lost in Super Bowl 36 having a 14-2 record) but you can't get your pants pulled down and spanked in the divisional round like that.
It wasn't a good idea to let Marty go in the first place, and if you do dump him you do it right away. Don't wait until everyone else is gone. That's just piss-poor management.
Hell, who knows. But the simple fact that Jerry Jones hired an offensive coordinator before he hired his head coach speaks volumes. Plus Jones brings in a defensive oriented head coach so you know the new offensive coordinator will be calling the plays.
Parcells was a guy who takes total control. Jones doesn't want to give out that power so it will be coach by committee and that's never good.
Then you throw in Terrel Owens and that is a recipe for a giant headache and some major ulcers for Wade Phillips.
