I agree. For example, it bother the hell out of me, when in my school they shut the window blinds and turn on the lights (we have really big windows in many rooms, so just let the day light in). The lights should not be used in the day, if not needed.
Same with aircondtioning, do we really need to have some 15°C in the buildings during summer?

Planting trees is a good solution to it, but don't forget that trees are only a method of carbon sequestration, it's only a temporary solution, so it'll finally go down to efficiency, technology development, and revolutionary government policies.
