Daily Dirt, January 5th, 2007 post #1  quote:

Lindsay Lohan went under the knife.... she was hospitalized and this time it has nothing to do with "exhaustion". She was admitted to a hospital yesterday to have her appendix removed. Her rep says she wasn't feeling well Wednesday so she went to the doctor. They ran some tests and discovered she was suffering from appendicitis. She returned yesterday for the surgery. Her rep says she's resting comfortably.

Britney Spears' old/new manager is explaining away her downward spiral. But Larry Rudolph vows that the new year will bring in a new, improved Britney. Rudolph says, "She understands what's going on right now, and she calls it her 'rocky moment.' Britney knows exactly what she needs to do and she’s taking all the right steps to be back and absolutely at the top of the entertainment industry very soon." Rudolph also knows many fans are turned off by Britney’s recent behavior and notes, "Britney sees this as a challenge that some fans are questioning her and she needs to win them back."

Whether she makes it through rehab or not, Tara Conner already has a new gig lined up. Playboy wants the hard-partying Miss USA to pose for its pages, and the Donald may give her the green light. Of course, if Trump allows her to do it, she'd have to keep her clothes on. If she's stripped of her crown, though, it's likely she'd strip.

Following in Angelina's and Madonna's footsteps, Leonardo DiCaprio is jumping on the adopt-a-baby bandwagon. While in South Africa filming "Blood Diamond" he met a little girl that he "adopted." Unlike his predecessors, though, Leo won't be bringing home baby. He'll just be cutting a monthly check and checking in by phone.

Geraldo Rivera's syndicated newsmagazine, "Geraldo at Large," has been canceled. He will resume his weekend show, "At Large with Geraldo Rivera" on the Fox News channel, and will also be a regular contributor to "The O'Reilly Factor" ... A woman is suing Oprah Winfrey's studio, claiming she was injured as people rushed to get a seat before a taping of the show. Tanya Milner alleges she was pushed down some stairs, and is seeking more than $50,000 in damages ... After five years, Celine Dion's Vegas show at Caesars Palace will close on Dec. 15. Before it ends, though, it will be filmed for a TV special and DVD

A deeply depressed O.J. Simpson has become addicted to the dangerous painkiller OxyContin, say sources.Reeling from the sudden shelving of his controversial new book, the disgraced football star has plummeted into a hellhole of heavy boozing, drug abuse and insane jealousy.

The 10-year marriage of country superstars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw has hit a rough patch because of Tim's hard-partying ways, sources say. And The ENQUIRER has learned that Faith's bizarre meltdown at the Country Music Awards in November was a result of the trouble brewing at home. As Carrie Underwood's name was being announced as Female Vocalist of the Year, an ABC camera caught Faith initially raising her arms in triumph, apparently thinking she had won. But when the 39-year-old realized Underwood had nabbed the award, she turned to the camera and shouted, "WHAT?" and stormed off.
Her publicist claimed the next day that Faith was joking, but a friend told The ENQUIRER: "The meltdown everyone saw wasn't because Faith is a sore loser — it was because of her marriage troubles." Tim and Faith are widely regarded as having one of the most stable marriages in country music, but friends say 39-year-old Tim "has been living something of a double existence in his personal life." While he is a doting dad and adoring husband while he's home, he's also an "aging party boy" when he's hanging out with his longtime band mates and former college fraternity brothers.

Donald Trump almost blew his combover top again on the "Today" yesterday morning, but this time he went after at the former "View" host, Meredith Vieira. Trump appeared on the show to promote "The Apprentice," but he went crazy when Vieira brought up his feud with Rosie O’Donnell. Trump snapped, "Here we are talking about 'The Apprentice' and you don't want to talk about 'The Apprentice,' you want to talk about Rosie, and you shouldn't mention them in the same breath." Vieira then lashed back at the Trump, blaming him for, "fueling the fire."
