WEll I am glad he was not executed today in fact it is a very smart move not to execute him today. Today is a muslim holiday of sacrifice or martyr's or something like that, remember what Sadamm said he was going to sacrifice hismelf for Iraq. Killing him on the hoiday celebrating sacrifdices after what he said would put him uo on near god like pedesatl for his followers and soon to be terror groups named after him ands his legacy.
Intresting though tht Sadamm should care about sacarfices or that Islmaic groups would use him as a martyr because the guy was an athesit reallly, he paid lip service to Islam but he could not really care less about Islamic states and things like that, it's part of the reason he and Bin Laden had such a deep distrust for each other.

I agree lodgebo, he wasn’t Muslim and knew little of their practices. Saddam is nothing more than an opportunist and this is just another opportunity to construct an image that is counterfeit and a legacy of equal imitation.

But it matters little of the crimes Saddam committed against other Muslims because they are engrained with such hated of the West so intensely that the enemy of their enemy is their friend.

Judge: Saddam to be executed by Saturday post #18  quote:

Judge: Saddam to be executed by Saturday

Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Saddam Hussein will be executed no later than Saturday, said an Iraqi judge authorized to attend his hanging, while the former dictator's lawyers said he had been transferred from U.S. custody.

The physical hand-over of Saddam to Iraqi authorities was believed to be one of the last steps before he was to be hanged, although the lawyers' statement did not specifically say Saddam was in Iraqi hands.

"A few minutes ago we received correspondence from the Americans saying that President Saddam Hussein is no longer under the control of U.S. forces," according to the statement faxed to The Associated Press.

Munir Haddad, a judge on the appeals court that upheld Saddam's death sentence, said he was ready to attend the execution.

"All the measures have been done," Haddad said. "There is no reason for delays."

In Baghdad, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has signed Saddam's death sentence, a government official said. The official, who refused to be identified by name because he was not authorized to release the information, said that Iraqi authorities were not yet in control of Saddam.

"We will get him when the execution is going to be carried out," said the official, who refused to give other details.

The discrepancy could not be explained.

The defense team statement called on "everybody to do everything to stop this unfair execution."

Personally, I couldn’t care less how they consider him. They seem to forget that Saddam killed more Muslims than anyone on the face of the earth. It’s just their sick little twisted double standards in full effect.

Anyone who dies fighting America is considered a martyr to Islamic extremist. The title has gotten way too much overplay and saturation and whether he dies or not, it won’t sway them from their continued violence.

However, if any of them want to be martyred, I say lets oblige as many of them as possible, starting with Saddam.

You know I said the same thing to my office mates. Maybe they can just turn him over to the many families of those he tortured and save their government the funds of buying new rope for an old fool.

Not sure if you mean that Saddam was elected by Iraqis but he wasn’t. He was a dictator and a very brutal one at that. He came into power by murdering ex-cabinet officials and that’s how he ruled Iraq as well.

Democracy, with all it’s pluses can’t be force on people however. That’s a lesson this Administration has learned the hard way. Even if you give people the power of choice don’t mean they will make a choice that’s best for them. This happens even in America.

Let's not forget that the CIA gave assistance to the Ba'ath Party which led them to stage a coup and eventually pave the way for Saddam.
