(11/15/06 - SAN ANTONIO, TX) - A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for a home-remodeling scam.
Prosecutors say Daniel De La Fuente scammed dozens of homeowners by selling home-remodeling jobs that he never started or failed to complete.
In some cases, clients were left with demolished kitchens or bathrooms.
The 45-year-old was sentenced yesterday on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity and theft exceeding 200-thousand dollars. A jury took only four minutes last week to find him guilty.
De La Fuente represented himself in the trial. He told the judge after his sentencing that he wanted to appeal.
