JK signs letter of intent for HP theme park post #1  quote:

After months of negotiations, JK Rowling has, according to a new report, signed a letter of intent to the Walt Disney Company allowing them to carry out preliminary construction on a theme park with Harry Potter characters. Although a letter of intent isn't legally-binding, it is "a serious intent to carry out certain business activities." The company is hoping for a definitive response from Jo on the situation by next summer.

NOTE: The article lists the Book 7 release date as July 7th, 2007. Again, this is purely speculation and the date has yet to be announced.

No, it's a letter of intent, FP. There is nothing binding in those. It's just a way of saying, "I'm willing to discuss the possibility with you, without a contract tying me down to make a decision." JKR could totally hate the idea, and completely back out of this. Though, I think that would be a GRAVE mistake on her part. She stands to make beyond millions if she signed over something like this. Not that she needs the money.

And, I would almost bet that she would want the theme park built in England. Since she didn't want a single American in her film, it's just got me thinking that we aren't good enough to host a theme park either, for HP.

Side note: Well it is based in Britain, and are meant to be British. I don't think it would be right (unless there was an American ambassador or something) that an american should get a part, just out of principle.

Disney have the money to do the park right, I think; not many entertainment companies in the UK could handle the costs, unless they brought in investors... though most in the UK wouldn't be too interested in a Harry Potter park. The thing will probably be based in the US anyway.

That being said, I don't know why they just can't shove a wing on Disneyland or something. A whole park dedicated to Harry Potter? It's a bit much, I think.

Well then, I would say that any movie adapted from a book, that is American, should have no Brit in it. Come on, how stupid that makes me sound. I've seen some great actors portray a character from another country, and do a good job with the accent.

I don't even know what we're talking about anymore

If it's a full theme park, that'd still be cool. But you've got to wonder when the magic of Harry Potter will die down. And when it does, will the theme park disapear too?

Honestly, after the last book, I give it another 10 years before all the buzz dies off.

But if the author asked for it its his or her right. If an American writer turned round nad demanded that no brits were aloud to play any parts (which im sure have happened) then it would be fine.

Sorry, I still don't see what this has to do with a theme park.

All I said was that I thought that she would want the theme park in England, since she didn't want an American in any of her films, and it went from there. It's her right... I just don't happen to agree with it, 100%. I'm entitled to my opinion, as we all are. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one, and they all stink.

Anyway... I don't know if an entire theme park would be a good idea or not. Who knows. I don't know that HP will die out though. I think that the magic of HP is going to be passed down from generation to generation, by the people who love the books now. Still, I would think it a smarter decision to add an HP section to an already existing theme park.

False: JK signs letter of intent for HP theme park post #12  quote:

A report yesterday stated that JK Rowling signed a letter of intent to Disney concerning plans for a Harry Potter theme park. Today, a representative for Jo informed us that there is no truth to this.
