My stepson is getting married in a couple of weeks to a girl he met on the Internet several years ago. She lives in Florida and he moved there a few years back. Met her parents and has been dating her until she finished college.
So as long as it's two consenting ADULTS I say why not?
That's how I met my partner. Though, I don't always think it's the wisest thing... to each their own. Too many times, you meet people online, and you "fall in love" and then, you get together, in real life, and it's totally different. You can be so different online.

I think that it's odd. If I'm looking for romance I want to meet someone face to face at a common hangout or doing a shared hobby, not meeting them as a screen name. To each their own, but I wouldn't do it.
"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." Mark Twain

That is true that people can take on a different persona online, not me though lol but i get what you mean-it worked for you but not necessarily everyone else
I think it's odd. I just think that people may pretend to be one person online and be completely different in real life. I agree, I'd like to meet someone face to face, see if you have a connection, a physical attraction, and then go from there.
However, I do know a few couples who have met online and they have a good, long lasting relationship, so obviously it works for some people.

Even though you're online, and being "yourself" you're still different than you are in a real social setting. When online, you're alone, and you aren't using an attitude, or getting upset by the settings, etc...
That's why I say it's completely different. The feelings are, or can be, real.... but, it's still different when you're face to face.

It doesn't make a difference to me because it seems that even though on the internet, a person can be one thing behind the screen and something else entirely in person, I think it's true when two people meet face to face as well. Many people I have met were wonderful people when we first met, but turned out totally different later on. I think when you meet someone no matter what the setting, you always have on your "good face" and once you get comfortable, the "rest" of you comes out and it's not always the prettiest thing in the world.
I chose "Not bothered by it". I tend to not be bothered by what any other two consenting adults do with each other, that includes how they meet. In order for two people to meet on an online dating service it means they are both looking to meet someone that way. People just need to know to be careful...but that's also the case if they meet at a bar....or pretty much anywhere else.
BTW Lawless, I love your avatar....It made me giggle for the first time today! Very funny considering who came up with the terror alert system
