EUCLID said this in post #15 : What it is up to is pandering to those who hate Bush. It's a movie intended to make them feel good. If it serves as an inspiration for someone to carry out its theme, so much the better. It's a movie that is kind of like sticking pins in a Voodoo doll.
Have you watched it? I've just read it's only been broadcast in Canada and from what you say it, doesn't sound like you've seen it.
And why would seeing Bush assassinated in a fictional drama make me feel anything at all, never mind good, when I can watch the inevitable real crash and burn of the real Bush and his real Presidency, entertaining enough I can assure you.
quote:
The two hour drama, in which events are 're-created' by the use of footage and interviews, shows the media storm around the War on Terror as Muslims are fingered as the culprits before there is any evidence.
In the wake of the assassination, authorities focus on a Syrian-born man in the search for the culprit.
'In the hunt for the killer, this will show how America has been affected by the War on Terror,' said a spokesman. 'It is about the polarisation of America in all the events post 9/11.'
Lawless said this in post #4 : That's my feelings. I've seen movies where a President has been assassinated, or they've attempted to assassinate... but, they are FICTIONAL characters.
How would you feel if you were Laura Bush, or one of his daughters?
I can't stand Bush, and can't wait until he is out of the White House... but, I would NEVER show such blatent disrespect for our President. No matter what my feelings are, personally.
I find it tasteless, and I won't support this film in any way.
yeah, I respect your opinion... I hate censorship... if it's not for you, don't watch. Don't try and tell me it's too risky or too dangerous for me to watch. I wish more people would only share their opinions in matters like this rather than try to keep everyone else from seeing it. We are all adults... right?
I don't care who sees it. It isn't any skin off of my back. Nor would it alter my opinion, of someone I know, that decided to see it. And you're right... if you don't like something, don't watch it. But, don't tell others what they can and can't do.
