Thumbs up The War on Islamofascist-terror Continues: Medusa's Wrath ? 94 Taliban Die post #1  quote:

U.S. troops in Afghanistan?s eastern Kunar province.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan ? In Operation Medusa, begun Sept. 2, NATO and Afghan forces killed 94 Taliban fighters in airstrikes and ground attacks in southern Afghanistan, pushing the toll from a nine-day counterinsurgency operation there past 420.

Now, that's what I'm talkin'bout!

Nice spin on what has been a disastrous few months for the operation. I noticed you posted this but missed the story on NATO asking for 2000 more troops A.S.A.P

And then there are the Anti-American news sources with, I'm sure, a much different spin on the operation: The BBC, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Al Arabyia, ERT, etc, etc, etc?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

Sept. 9: U.S. soldiers of the 45th Brigade of National Guard, attached to 10th Mountain Division, fire a mortar round.

The above report is an undisputable fact. I know it hurts anti-Americans when the U.S. is on the offensive killing terrorists. But that's the price one pays when one is top daug.

And the fact that Taliban are being killed is also an undisputable fact but it also an undisputable fact that NATO needs 2000 troops that it ain't going to get. Calling in that many troops proves that the mission is not going to plan not getting the troops you need may put the plan in severe jeporady. If you want an idea of what we are facing think about this in the last two weeks the UK has lost more soldiers in Afghanistan than it has lost in the 5 years since 2001.

The problem seems to stem from the following:

1. Anywhere outside Kabul is lawless
2. The scope of the NATO mission is huge and ever changing.
3. The Taliban have began to regroup and in somke areas are making deals with locals and warlords.

until you solve those problems the country will only get worse.

I Got Your Your Fact Right Here: post #8  quote:

You guys just don't get it, mate. The harder you tug on that anti-American rope the harder we'll pull back. You'll never win that anti-America game with Americans. Never. There are just too many Americans who know better, honest. It's that simple.

Agreed. And I would add to that the lack of determination by Pakistan to "seek and destroy" the terrorists we seek.

I think Pakistan may be more effective in passing on intel. Having NATO troops on one side of the border and Pakistan troops on the other may result in the Taliban going to ground and moving around a lot less which make it harder for us to catch and/ or kill them.

Sorry, what exactly has your opinion-label of "NATO operation in trouble" got to do with the reality of the extreme effectiveness of Operation Medusa's Wrath. It's simple Scotty, if you lack the basic intelligence to recognize the facts amid the swirling soup of your own anti-American brainwashing, well then, proceed with your nonsense, as I know you will.

Sept. 12: U.S. Army soldiers of 4th Battalion attach a load on
the underside of a helicopter in Afghanistan.

post #13  quote:

Look my Greek little friend here are the fa ts of the NATO operation:

They need 2000 troops to be this operation through thats not counting the replacment troops for the KIA's that are mounting up.

They won't get those troops Holland has offered 100 but that is the only offer. Tony Blair has urged NATO members to help but France, Italy and Turkey are to busy with the Lebanon region, US and UK are busy ion Iraq and all members have troops in the Balkans.

Even if we could get them they would not br ready for what Afghanistan is going to throw at them.

Of the 37 countries involved only 3 maybe four are supplying combat troops those countries being the UK, US, Canada and Holland

Only the Germans, UK and the US are supplying flight cover either logistical ,intel, bombing or troops movement ( like the Nimrod that crashed last week and took an old friend with it)

Only 8 of the countries are supplying intel those being, France, Germany, UK and I cannot remember the rest.

The other countries are rebuilding howevere outside Kabul there is no point as the Taliban seem to knock it back down again.

We have tried to get the opium trade stopped we triewd bombing them and that failed ( poppy can take a lot of damage) so we treid to but the farmers off that failed as they got more land and grew more poppies so now we are teaching them about growing other vegetablkes fro trade howevere two problems with that 1. it does not make as much cash and 2 the soil is so poor that very little can grow in these areas unless you give up nearly all your tiem to watering( not alot of that about) and general soil work. So we are hardly offering a good incentive here are we less money for more work would you do that if your boss asked you?

We actually do not know what the mission is anymore which is why countries are more involved in some things than others for example we were told in the UK that the job was reconstruction and eductaion yet we sent in the Praras and we took spy planes now it's a combat operation. Every NATO country was told the same thing.

Dealing with what we were told does it mean that NATO overlooked the Taliban threat or just plaing ignored it? if any of thos are true it would hardly install confidence to the countries involved.

The Taliban have got safe areas in Helmund that are difficult to
locate and get into without a bloodbath resulting. Remeber I said the UK lost more troops last week than tho whole time we have been in Afghanistan well they were fighting in these safe regions.

The Taliban are restartiung thier propganda and are becoming more popular in the areas outside Kabul.

The Taliban are teaming with the warlords ( who were pro US in 2001) and are getting weapons, men and safe houses if needed giving the NATO op more enemies when we nedd less.

Areas of Helmund are now becoming "suicide schools" were young radicalised males are being taught how to become suicide bombers. The US embassy was attacked in Kabul a week or so ago a US Marine was killed by somebody that came from these schools.

The Taliban are still launching suicide attacks in Kabul like the one above on a weekly basis.

Anywhere outside Kabul is lawless.

On the plus side

we have had elections and a governemnt ( that only operates in the capital )

We have killed about 600 Taliban in the past month

Women have more rights again only in the capital.

There is more talk the Taliban and less of Al Queda.

so the fact is thatdead Taliban and all the NATO mission is not going to plan as it stands right now you might be better off on a tour of duty in Basra as opposed to Helmund.

Sorry, to burst your bubble, Scotty, but we Americans are not divided on Afghanistan, so do not include Americans in your "we" column. You are divided from us. You Europeans, who will always be against any U.S. action, any U.S. plan, any U.S. ideal are divided from Americans. And viv la difference !
