Why the Vault? Because that's where the game is played. When a new Round starts, host Mark Steines will appear in The Vault to kick it off. Once Mark introduces the Round, you’ll be ready to tackle the Challenges. Although they’re called “Challenges,” they’re actually really fun to do, things like riddles, trivia questions, sound bites, puzzles and memory games.
There are twelve Challenges to solve, plus a Gold Challenge each round. Those numbers around your Vault are the twelve Challenges. The Challenges in each round will be released over a period of roughly three days, and you’ll complete them as they are introduced. If a Challenge in your Vault is red, that means it hasn't been released yet, so don't worry about it. If it's green, that means you already solved it, so don't worry about that either (unless you are incredibly neurotic). But if it's white, it's an active Challenge that you haven't completed. You're not going to let The Vault diss you like that, are you? Click on that thing and go solve it. We're trying to win gold here!
Once you solve the twelve Challenges, the Vault door will open, and you’ll be presented with the Gold Challenge, the big enchilada. If you’re one of the first three people to finish the Gold Challenge, you’ll be invited to compete in the offline Gold Competition and be whisked away to a glamorous city to compete against two other (surely inferior) finalists for the chance to win $100,000 in gold. And if you win the $100,000, you automatically qualify to compete for $1 million in the final competition.
OK, now you know all about the Vault, but there are a couple other things you need to know. Before the game kicks off on September 13th, you should learn as much as you can about Gold Rush by visiting the Glog. Do you know what a Glog is? That’s the game blog. We call it a Glog because we like to invent new words. Like flarm, or tweezleborf. We’ll feature clues in the Glog and provide daily coverage and news items. So read it.
Here’s another crucial step: Figure out who you want your top five Gold Buddies to be and then invite them to play with you. You’ll have a decided edge over the competition if you play with friends. Be smart about it. Don’t pick a physics professor who never watches TV. She might be smart about science, but if she doesn’t know Bea Arthur from Samantha Bee, she’ll be no help to you. Your Gold Buddies will be able to help you out if you have trouble with a challenge, so choose wisely.
Finally, rehearse. The road to gold is paved with numerous television appearances. When you make it to the real life competition (and we feel certain you will!), your every move will be caught on tape, and you’ll make history as part of the first Mark Burnett reality show to debut online. With great exposure comes great opportunity. Think of all the people Mark Burnett has made famous: Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, Sylvester Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard, just to name a few. Had you heard of any of them before they worked with Mark Burnett? Didn’t think so.

Im all up for playing pop culture trivia, but HUH? This sounds way too confusing.
