I don't know, but I think if he is involved, it would go well.
I hope so. They need to get in touch with the fan base, and give them a good movie. With that idiot Rick Berman out of the way, and other people involved, they may be able to pull it off.
Star Trek 10 sucked so bad, it put a stink on it for me. Seeing Piccard in that stupid ATV vehicle, and Data finding another Data, yet again, the whole thing just bricked. Totally bogus story ideas in the first place.
Trek X didn't stink like butt. The whole concept was flawed. The space battles were dope. Having Romulans was cool. Other than that, crapo.
It's like, Picard was all stoked to drive his lame ATV... and I'm like, dude, you command a starship! And you want to drive this Yamaha piece of crap?
And another Data clone? Snore. Remans? Looked like cheap vampires. Picard clone looked nothing like Picard. And once again the entire crew, sans Picard and Data, had absolutely nothing to do.
Deep deep stuff, I know. I try hard. But let me say this for real: Even if it's good, it's not going to help the franchise. It had better be AWESOME, and have word of mouth, because everyone has been burnt so many times, they will wait to see what everyone else says about it.
people like me will go see it, even if it's a stinker, cause we are Trekkie's. But to make some coin, they need a strong word of mouth from folks who have seen it.
It will have to transcend Trek fans for sure. The fair-weathered fans didn't even blink at the last one. Not only does this thing have to win back all the Trek fans, which is going be tough, it will have to bring in a new generation of fans, which is going to be tough.
This could be a catalyst for brand new Trek fans. TNG came out when I was in middle school. The last two shows were years apart and weren't particularly good. The last few movies licked. This reboot has to just that.
For the Trek franchise it's 4th and loooooooooong. Abrhams is beind center, Berman is on the bench. He's about to throw the long bomb. Let's hope it's a touchdown.
