Sawyer doesn't have a pacemaker... Ben told him that the only thing they put in him was doubt. He told Sawyer that they gave him a heart rate monitor watch... that's all it is. That's why Sawyer decked him, and called him a bastard.
They have a lot more technology then we are aware of. Plus, they are getting things from outside of the island... because of the tapes that they showed Jack. That baseball game was a recent one.

why?!?!? Why the pacemaker, why the doubt if all you are going to do is walk him to the top of a mountain and tell him the truth? You don't have a pacemaker, you're on a seperate island (that you can't swim off of, we won't give you a boat because we won't let you go). Why?!?! More questions and no answers. This is all this show gives. As I said before, the pay-off is not worth watching this show.

Ummmmmmmmmm, it's called "teaching him a lesson" and it worked. He said that the only way to get to a con man, is to con him. It worked, and got his attention.
If you are that unhappy with the show, stop watching it, and move on to something else on tv to enjoy. That would be my opinion. If I don't like I show, I stop watching it, and that's the end of it.
