Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's new baby Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was delivered by Caesarean section by a US doctor on Saturday (27 May 06).
Los Angeles-based obstetrician Doctor Jason Rothbart was flown to Swakopmund, Namibia, to take charge of Jolie's labour at The Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital.
Dr Rothbart tells American magazine People, "Angelina underwent a scheduled cesarean due to breech presentation.
"The baby was a healthy seven pounds. Brad was with Angelina in the operating room the entire time and cut the umbilical cord of his daughter. The surgery and birth went flawlessly. The staff, nurses and doctors I worked with at the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital were amazing, it was a team effort."
In a statement to the publication, the delighted couple said, "We would like to deeply thank the staff of the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital for all their kindness and commitment in assuring the successful birth of our daughter."
The Mr And Mrs Smith co-stars also adoptive parents to Cambodian son Maddox and Ethiopian daughter Zahara Marley.
Thanks for the info Sherry. Who are they selling the first picture to? Does anybody know? I heard they are selling the first picture for 5 million and donating the money to charity.
My nephew and his wife just had a baby boy and named him Maddox. They are going to call him Max.
I do like the names she picks. Unusual without being wierd.
David thinks she has turned Brad into a little puppy dog that follows her around everywhere. I say GO GIRL!
