From the sounds of it, these DVDs will be 2 disc sets, 1 disc with the 2004 Special Editions of the movies, the other disc with the original theatrical versions (apparently taken from the laser discs - therefore won't be in anamorphic widescreen).
But they came up with new cover-art for each movie
Undecided whether I'll fork any more money out for these. I want the originals, whatever the aspect ratio... but just not THAT much, unless I get something else with it... or a good price.
It's just something to make extra money. Lucas said that he wasn't going to do this.. but, once again, the old dollar is greater, and pulls on that greed string inside. I won't be purchasing them, since I already have them on dvd.

I agree... the covers are very nice. But, sheesh, I'm so tired of this sort of crap.
You know, like when an artist puts out a cd of their "Greatest Hits" and nothing new. That makes me so f'n insane. Give us real material. We wait, years, for something new, and that's what you give your fans? Or, they give you a cd of "covers" WHY?
So, it's not like this is something new. Though, I would be so ticked off if it included new scenes that hadn't made the film, when he's already done that.
Really, it is just about money... and wanting more of it.

I know what you mean HECK. I'll probably get them too, eventually. I won't run out for them the day they're out, but I'll probably pick them up if the price isn't too bad.

That could work, but who gets the case? You could sell your special edition discs and replace them with these ones, I guess
Yes... yes... we already have the Special Editions... not to mention the not-so-special Special Editions on VHS... and the even-less-special BETA MAX copies of the movies from when they were first released on video...
Not to mention when these 3D versions come out we're gonna be running out to see those at the cinema and get the DVDs of them. Glasses sold separately, no doubt.
