Windfall post #1  quote:

Series premier: Thursday, June 10, 2006 on NBC.

A group of friends win the lotto, and find that money changes EVERYTHING!

From executive producer Laurie McCarthy (“Felicity,” “CSI: Miami”) comes “Windfall,” an hour drama that follows 20 lottery winners after their unexpected good fortune. Each winner's reaction is different and the overwhelming cash windfall presents unexpected marital, ethical, legal – and even criminal problems.

At the center is a close-knit foursome who have known each other since college when the “wrong” spouses were in love. Luke Perry (“Beverly Hills, 90210”) stars as Peter Schaefer, a devoted husband to Nina (Lana Parrilla, “Boomtown”) and father of two. Parrilla finds herself in a complicated relationship with Cameron Walsh, played by Jason Gedrick (“Boomtown”). Sarah Wynter (“24”) plays Cameron's loving but suspicious wife.

A relative stranger to their circle is D.J. Cotrona (“Skin”) as Sean Mathers, who finds that winning the lottery threatens to expose a dark secret in his past. Also, for Damien Cutler (Jon Foster, “The Door in the Floor”), a rebellious teen, winning the cash means he is set free from his parents -- with millions in his pocket. Alice Greczyn (“The Dukes of Hazzard”) stars as Frankie, a 16-year old girl whose separated parents' newfound wealth sets off a marital war.

In addition, Kimberly George (Malinda Williams, "Soul Food") is a 22-year-old single mother whose winning the lottery gives her the opportunity to start a new life and leave the trailer park behind. Rounding out the cast is Jaclyn DeSantis (“Road Trip”), who plays Maggie Hernandez, a nurse who can't wait to spend her winnings.

Pilot
06/08/06 - Season 1

Nina and her husband held a party at their house for friends and neighbors. They passed around a lottery pot where people were encouraged to put in a dollar for that night's lottery. Nina was surprised to hear that her old boyfriend, Cameron, and his wife were moving for Cameron's job. Meanwhile, she was shocked that she had to hear it from partygoers and not from Cameron himself.

Nina accompanied Cameron to the liquor store to get the lottery tickets. On the way, he told Nina he could never love his wife, Beth, the way he loved her. While inside the store, Nina ran into a local teenager, Damien, and he offered up a dollar for the lottery tickets. When Cameron finished filling the tank, he grabbed Nina and began to passionately kiss her.

The next morning, Nina checked the lottery ticket numbers and realized that she'd bought the winning lottery ticket from the night before. She and Peter leaped out of their chairs and celebrated on the front lawn. Next they had to track down everybody who threw in a dollar. Cameron and Beth came over to celebrate. Beth couldn't wait to tell her co-worker at the flower shop, Sean, that he was one of the winners.

Sean was worried that his shady past might come back to haunt him and not allow him to claim his lottery winnings. He enlisted the help of an attorney, Zoë, whom he had just delivered flowers for that day. Sean wanted Zoë to claim the money for him and in return, he would share part of it with her. She thought the whole thing was sketchy, but went along with being introduced as Sean's girlfriend so she could collect the money. That night, Sean seduced Zoë at his apartment.

Cameron came by Nina and Peter's that night looking for Nina. He got her alone outside and confessed to her that now that money was no longer a problem, they should try to work things out. She thought the idea was ridiculous because they had each gotten married to other people. Cameron tried to convince Nina that having money meant they now had the freedom to do whatever they wanted.

Beth and Cameron were shocked when one of his former students came by with a shocking claim. She told Beth and Cameron that she had a baby and Cameron was the father. Cameron assured Beth that his student was there just to extort money from him. He refused to do a DNA test, because he thought it would be giving into Beth's doubts about his credibility.

After buying a brand-new Mercedes with her lottery money, Maggie wanted to do some good for others. When she was a nurse, she remembered a woman who had been turned away for not having insurance. Maggie stopped by the woman's work and gave her a check for $25,000. The woman couldn't believe her eyes and thanked Maggie with a hug and tears.

Peter surprised Nina and his daughters and bought an outdoor carnival set for their backyard, compete with rides and games. She looked at Peter and told him how happy she was and that he was always going to be the man she would choose to be with.

Because Damien was underage, his parents legally owned his money. He had convinced a beautiful Russian woman to marry him, however, because this would legally emancipate him from his parents. Meanwhile, the Russian woman could have legal citizenship in the United States. His father told him he'd made a horrible decision, so Damien packed his bags and moved into a nearby hotel.

Zoë did research on Sean and realized that every story he'd ever told her was a lie. She was drawn to him and scared of him at the same time. He told her that it was her choice to sleep with him and her choice to be drawn to him. He still wanted her to pretend to be his girlfriend and collect the lottery money. She feared being disbarred for fraud, but Sean assured her everything was going to work out. Later, a shady character approached Sean and threatened to expose Sean's secrets.

The town held a big press conference for all the winners. The media came out to conduct interviews and meet the lottery winners. The next morning Peter checked the lottery numbers a realized his wife played her ex-boyfriend Cameron's birthday for the winning numbers.

The Getaway
06/15/06 - Season 1 Week 2

Sean confessed to Zoë that he had a shady past that involved a murder committed by his friend, Jeremy. Zoë reminded him that if he was present during that murder, he could still be held accountable. He warned Zoë that Jeremy might be coming around looking for money. He offered to stay with her and protect her in case that happened.

Kimberly had moved herself and her son into a suite at the local hotel. She was surprised when her son came home early from school. She was shocked to hear that he'd gotten into a fight at school. He told her it was because of all the money that schoolmates were picking on him. He also told his mom he was scared the money was going to run out. She later found out that it was her son causing the fights.

Jeremy waited for Zoë outside her law office. She told him she knew who he was and wanted nothing to do with him. Jeremy told Zoë she had no idea what kind of man Sean was and that he was the real killer.

Galina moved into Damien's suite at the hotel. He was surprised to find she didn't have much a wardrobe, so he ordered an entire closet of new clothes for his Russian wife. She was touched. Meanwhile, Damien was planning a giant party for all of his friends for later that night.

While their wives were away in Paris on a shopping spree, Peter and Cameron got some bonding time. Peter wanted Cameron to consider going into business with him and opening up a bicycle shop. They had talked about working with racing bikes for years and now Peter wanted to make their dream a reality. Cameron was a little more reluctant about the job.

Zoë's lawyer, Dave Park, took care of Jeremy by paying him off with some of the lottery money so he would leave both Zoë and Sean alone. Later on, Park presented Zoë with the information about her offshore account for the lottery money. He also reminded her that all the money was in her name and nobody could ever track it down. He wanted her to take a good look at who Sean was before she split the money with him.

While they were in Paris, Nina and Beth decided to have a night out on the town. When they went out dancing, Nina witnessed Beth kiss another man. Beth later assured Nina that the kiss meant nothing. She also told Beth that her marriage had taken more severe hits than just kissing a strange man.

Damien threw a giant party at his hotel to celebrate his lottery winnings. Frankie showed up and found out that Damien had married Galina. Galina was also there. When Frankie saw Galina, she immediately started to drown her sorrows in alcohol. Damien later walked in on Frankie throwing up in the bathroom. He later confessed to Frankie that his marriage to Galina was just about his money.

Cameron followed Alisa to her apartment. She had been trying to get ahold of him to extort money from him, claiming he had fathered her child. When he got to her apartment, he found her there with her boyfriend, and with drug paraphernalia on the table. They demanded money from Cameron, but he refused. He did offer to take her baby out of that environment and back home with him.

Zoë was getting ready to leave Sean's apartment because she wanted to rush to her place and book tickets for a fabulous trip. She also wanted Sean to stay with her as long he needed to until he found a new place to live. When Sean went to meet Zoë at her apartment later in the day, he found her apartment disheveled and no sign of her.

A woman came forward claiming that it was her dollar, not Kimberly's, that was in the lottery bucket on the night of Nina and Peter's party. Now the woman, Sunny Van Hattem, had filed a civil suit for her share of the money. Kimberly had just paid for new equipment for her son's school and came back to her suite. She was shocked at what she was hearing. At the same time, the hotel wanted to talk to her about her bill. Kimberly's winnings were now being threatened because of Sunny's claim.

Man, I LOVE this show already. When Sean went to Zoe's apartment, at the end, and everything was tossed around, and she was no where to be found, my first thought was that she purposely set it up to look like something happened to her, and she took off. Did she? Who knows... but, this will possibly put Sean in a position of getting in trouble.

And then, the news report, with that biotch, claiming that the dollar in the can was hers, and not Kimberly's, really ticked me off. So, it will be interesting to see what happens with that story line... though, I think that it's going to take awhile to unwind and get to the truth of the matter.

There and Gone Again

06/22/06 - Season 1 week 3

Before anybody could collect their group lottery money, they were faced with a dilemma. A fellow friend, Sunny Van Hattem, said that she'd donated a dollar to the lottery pot and therefore deserved to claim her share of the millions. That made Peter question if Kimberly's dollar was really Sunny's. Kimberly swore to Peter and Nina that she was the one who'd put her dollar into the lottery fund and Sunny was just a liar.

Cameron was still certain he was not the father of his former student Elisa's baby. But he still was concerned about the child's welfare when he found out Elisa was going to rehab. Beth was apprehensive about taking Elisa's baby into their care, but Cameron insisted on it. He told the baby's nurse that he thought he might be the father.

Maggie's name was featured in the paper as a lottery winner, and she was surprised by all the men who wanted to meet her. But she also became quickly discouraged when she noticed that they seemed more concerned about the money than her.

Sean went looking for Zoë and couldn't find her anywhere. He contacted the police; he weren't so sure that Zoë had even gone missing. Sean's lawyer told him that whatever happened to Zoë was probably Sean's fault. Sean wanted to hire private investigators to help find her. His lawyer also informed Sean that all of his lottery money was still in her name. He tried to enlist the help of her sister, Tally, to find her.

Peter didn't want Nina to lie for Kimberly. He was hoping that Kimberly and Sunny would just come to an agreement about the money, but it didn't look like that was going to happen. Peter was worried about all the lottery money being frozen until the dispute was taken care of. That night the winners gathered at Nina and Peter's. But Sunny showed up, causing some uproar.

Elisa's baby kept crying throughout the night. Cameron thought there was something wrong with him and so he and Beth took him to the hospital. The doctor told the both of them that the baby was going through substance withdrawals from the drugs he had ingested while in his mother's womb. The doctor told them the baby was going to be fine, he just needed to go back home and be held and loved.

After talking to Nina, Peter wanted to solve the Nina debate once and for all. He thought that all the lottery winners should give five percent of their winnings to Sunny and call it even. When people groaned, Peter reminded them that it was either that or giving twenty percent to lawyers. After listening to Peter's reasoning, everybody agreed that five percent was fair.

After the crowd began to leave Peter and Nina's, Maggie stayed behind to grab the leftover food. She began a conversation with the caterer in the kitchen. She was relieved to know that he wasn't just interested in her money. He gave her his number by writing it on her hand.

Damien came by Frankie's house to try to get her to go for a ride in his car. She told him she couldn't because it was so late and it was a school night. She told him if he felt so lonely, he might want to consider going back home. But he told her that was not an option. Instead, he just went back to his hotel and to his Russian bride, Galina.

Tally came by looking for Sean. She'd cracked the password on her sister's phone and wanted to help Sean find out what happened to her. She was also concerned because earlier, the police had asked her for a DNA sample. She wondered if they'd found Zoë's blood during their investigation into her disappearance. Sean and Tally left to try to find out what had happened to Zoë. Tally made sure she hid her gun in her purse, away from Sean.

Running with the Devil

06/29/06 - Season 1 Week 4

Sean was determined to find out what happened to Zoë. He believed that his former partner in crime, Jeremy, might have kidnapped her. He took Zoë's sister Tally to Buffalo to look for her. Sean was worried when he found out Tally was carrying a gun with her for protection. They arrived at Jeremy's sister's house. Sean was sure that she was hiding him somewhere.

Nina and Peter held a meeting with all the lottery winners concerning the disappearance of Zoë. Afterwards, Peter let Cameron know he didn't need him to invest in his cycle business because he had other investors interested. Meanwhile, Damien's parents showed up wanting him to move back home. He told them he would think about it, but his Russian bride, Galina, was a concern.

Frankie broke off her date with Damien so she could accompany her mother to Manhattan. She was surprised when she arrived to see that her mother had bought the loft they were staying at. Frankie was mad because she wasn't ready to leave her small town life for New York. She called Damien to break off their date and he lent a sympathetic ear.

After he and Nina bought a new house in a gated community, Peter agreed to go on a fishing trip with some potential investors who lived in his new neighborhood. He didn't want any of the guys to know that he was one of the lottery winners. When they arrived in Baja, one of the guys confessed that he knew about Peter's winnings. It was also clear to Peter that the men go on these fishing trips to cheat on their wives and not to fish.

Damien surprised a lonely Frankie and showed up at her mom's Manhattan loft. The two started heavily making out, but Frankie confessed she wasn't ready to have sex, yet. Damien understood and went back home to his parent's, only to find that their house had been robbed. His dad blamed Damien's new fancy lifestyle and said it attracted burglars. Damien went back to the hotel and to Galina.

After spending the day with Nina at her family's new house, Cameron returned home to Beth. He told her he was ready to try for a baby with her. Later that night, he went downtown to pick up dinner and drove to Nina's. She told him to leave, but he wanted to let her know that he couldn't get her out of his mind and he didn't know what he was doing. She began to plead for him to leave, so he did.

A frustrated Damien came back to the hotel to find Galina looking for new places to live. He told her she didn't need to rush on moving. Galina could tell that something was troubling Damien. She began to kiss him and he kissed her right back.

Sean waited for Jeremy to come back to his sister's house. Once he arrived, Sean leaped at him and shoved him into a car and told Tallie to drive. Tallie didn't know what Sean was going to do with Jeremy. Jeremy claimed he had no idea where Zoë was. Sean told Tallie to pull the car over and he pointed the gun at a scared Jeremy, who claimed that all his money came from making meth. Tallie proved Jeremy was telling the truth by looking in the trunk of his car and finding his supplies.

Frankie decided to come home early and left a message with her father. Her father was busy making love to a woman, whom he had met at Peter and Nina's. Later on that night, he heard a noise like somebody was coming in the door. He grabbed his gun and he ordered the woman to stay in bed. He fired a shot at the intruder and hit them. But when he got a closer look, he saw that the intruder resembled Frankie.

Money Changers

07/06/06 - Season 1 Week 5

Nina and Peter had their neighbors, Park and Shari, over for dinner. The conversation turned to Peter and Park's recent fishing trip to Mexico. Nina could tell that Peter was covering for Park and confronted him later. She asked him if Park was cheating on his wife in Mexico and Peter assured her that whatever Park was doing in Mexico, Peter didn't do the same thing. He wanted Nina to know that he needed Park's help in opening the bike shop.

Alisa came by Cameron and Beth's house unexpectedly. She told them she got kicked out of rehab and was going back, but before that, she wanted her baby to stay with her sister. Beth was reluctant to give the baby back to Alisa, but Alisa had a court order to give her baby to her sister. Beth wanted to talk to Cameron about starting a family of their own, but he wasn't in the mood to talk about it.

Sonny ended up in the hospital because Eric mistook her for an intruder in his home and shot her. Nina got a phone call that she and Peter were the emergency contact, so she came by the hospital to check up on her. Nina felt bad that Sonny had nobody else to turn to, so she offered up their house as a place where Sonny could rest. She accepted.

Sean hired a private investigator to track down Zoë. It was costing him a lot of money, but he was stoked when he found out the investigator had good news. He told Sean that Zoë's credit card had some activity on it in Texas and Sean offered to pay for him to go to Texas to investigate further. Tally told Sean she'd had her sister's credit cards cancelled and the private investigator was swindling him.

Galina was tired of men thinking she was a prostitute at the hotel. Damien felt bad so he bought her a wedding ring. He later explained to her that the rings' sole purpose was so men wouldn't hit on her. Galina wanted the ring to mean more than just business. She felt Damien was using her just for sex and his lottery winnings.

Park told Peter that he had a few investors interested in his bike shop. He also advised Peter that it would be a good idea to host a party at his new house to persuade the rest of the businessmen to invest their money. Park also wanted a share of the shop, which made Peter uneasy because he felt his control over his dream was slipping away. Nina took Peter aside and told him she didn't trust Park. But Peter told her he needed somebody like Park to believe in him.

Frankie confronted her mother and told her she would not be leaving her friends or her father for New York City. Her mom told her that Frankie really didn't know her father for who he really was. She broke the news that she'd paid Eric $200,000 to leave Frankie alone and Eric had taken the money. Frankie didn't believe her father would do such a thing.

Cameron and Beth talked further about starting a family and Cameron confessed that he wasn't ready for a baby. Beth was tired of him questioning everything in his life. She told him that all of her choices are based on love and perhaps Cameron should decide to do the same thing. He decided to start trying for a baby with her.

Tally stopped by Sean's unexpectedly with horrible news; Zoë's dead. Tally got a call from the cops that said they caught the person responsible for breaking into the lottery winners' homes and upon interrogation, some Russian guy confessed. At the same time, the cops busted in on Damien's hotel room and arrested Galina for involvement in Zoë's murder.

White Knights

07/13/06 - Season 1 Week 6

Sean and Tally sat in the courtroom to watch the arraignment of the Russian man accused of murdering Zoë. Before the arraignment, Park told Sean that Zoë had left all of her money, which was Sean's lottery winnings, to her little sister, Tally.

Peter and Nina went out to dinner and ran into Sunny who offered to pay for their meal. Peter also saw one of the guys he worked with at the bike shop. His co-worker ignored Peter's invitation to join him and Nina at their table. He told Peter that he read he was planning on laying people off once he opened up his own bike shop. Peter found out that Park and Cameron had leaked the story of the possible layoffs to the press.

Later that night, Tally confessed to Sean that she felt her best when she was with him. She kissed him. Sean stopped the kissing and wanted Tally to make sure she knew what she was doing. The two made love. The next morning, Tally had to leave for the courthouse early. She told Sean that she had missed a call from Park while they were in bed. Sean found it very suspicious that Park was calling Tally.

Damien went to the jail where they were holding Galina as a suspect in Zoë's murder. He found she had stolen money from him. When he confronted her, she swore she had nothing to do with the murder, but admitted she'd stolen money when she first met Damien, and said that she intended to send it to her family. Damien was mad and left the jail.

Maggie agreed to start dating Doug, the cater waiter she met at Nina and Peter's. She was becoming annoyed because he didn't want to have her pay for anything, so most of their dates were very cheap. She went over to his apartment and he made her dinner. He also told her he was a musician and wanted her to check out his music. Only problem was that Maggie didn't like it.

Damien showed up in New York looking for Frankie. He came across the bodyguard that her mother had hired. Damien convinced Frankie to take a walk with him. He confessed that he couldn't get her out of his head, but Frankie reminded Damien that he'd chose to be with Galina over her. She told Damien to go back to his wife.

Peter started arguing with Nina because he felt she wasn't giving enough support to his bike business. She was worried because she felt that Peter was losing control of his business to the investors.
