Well, let me just start this off by saying that I'm not at all looking forward to tonight. But, I will do a review, none-the-less. AI without Chris Daughtry doesn't really interest me. While many I know have decided to no longer watch AI, I won't stop. I'm not happy... but, it's still one of my fav shows. Though, the kittens are walking across the bed, on the back paws, holding signs up which read: "AI is rigged." "No Chris = No AI"
So, the show starts off with Clive Davis. Now, this man has definitely signed some great artists... and he knows his stuff. But, will his picks, for each contestant tonight, be on the money? We shall see.
Starting off the show is Elliott, with "Open Arms" by Journey. Now, I'm shocked to see that this was the choice. Simply for the reason that Randy is a hard critic whenever someone performs a song from a group that he once played for/in. The gate has opened, and he's out... He's really hitting the notes in a sour way. His vocals on not spot on tonight, like last week. I think that he's in trouble folks.
Kat is up next, with "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly. This song, while good, has gotten on my nerves. You know, sometimes you can hear a song too many times, and it just stays on your nerves, for life. This is one of them. Her voice, starting off, sounds, ummmmmmmm, well, not impressive. (Okay Paula... it's NOT a beauty contest, or a fashion show.) Anyway, she didn't do a good job, in my opinion.
And now, Taylor, with "Dancing In The Dark" by Bruce Springstein. Surprise that this artist is allowing his music in the show, but, seeing how Clive signed "The Boss" it's no wonder he allowed it. And, Taylor is a fan, so, that's cool. Okay, so far tonight, this is the best performance. Tay has the right voice to pull this song off.
Back with the judges picks for the contestants:
Elliott has been given, "What I Won't Do For Love" by Bobby Caldwell. Much better. He listened to Simon, and loosened up. Not bad. I liked it.
Kat with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" chosen by Simon. She FINALLY has a look on her face that makes you FEEL the song. I actually like this one. Now, she goes a bit off, trying to reach where it needs that little 'punch' or 'umpf' but, it's better than she's been lately. That last "rainbow" hit a funky note though.
Taylor will be singing, "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker, which Randy picked for him. Since I heard that he was singing this song, I was happy, because I think that it fits him, and his particular vocal style. Oh man... you can hear his, trying to hit the notes, but he's hurting. Poor guy. I wish that he would stand up straight... he looks like he's gotta pee. Oh man... that falsetto! That was nice. Great performance for Taylor. (okay, you know it's good when Simon is happy... but, someone PLEASE smack Taylor... those SP shout outs are ticking me off.)
Now it's time for each contestant to sing a song of their choosing.
Elliott went with, "I Believe To My Soul" by Ray Charles. It was decent. I'm not a Ray Charles fan... so, it doesn't get my attention too well. But, this guy can sing, and even if he goes home tomorrow night... someone has to sign him up on their label. He will sell records.
Kat decided on, "I Ain't Got Nothing But The Blues." Oh, here were go with the hooker boots (excuse me, go-go boots) and the damn smile spreading wider then the stage. Blues aren't happy. Didn't anyone clue her in on this? A couple okay notes... but, over all, I'm just not too impressed. I would have rather heard a song that is something that she would like to put out. That didn't do it for me.
Taylor picked, "Try A Little Tenderness" with yet ANOTHER shout out to the SP! SHUT UP! Please. Put a sock in it Tay... because you're the one that I've liked the most tonight, but that really turns me off, to the point that I think that you're almost trying to sell yourself, pulling cheap shots... and I'm left wondering if you're really sincere. The performance? Meh, it was okay... didn't do anything for me... but, maybe it was like a lemon in my mouth because of allllllllllllllllllll of his damn shout outs.
I liked Elliott and Katharine about equal tonight. Don't know who will be going home tomorrow night... yet, because I need to think about it. But, I think that it will be one of those two, and Taylor will be safe, once again. Who cares though... right? Chris isn't in the competition, and I just don't care, at all.
