Okay, it's another Tuesday night, which means it's time for more CHRIS DAUGHTRY! *sigh* Yes, I absolutely love this guy, and wait for Tuesdays just because of this one man. Though, I haven't been looking forward to tonight for some reason. When I heard that Rod Stewart was going to be on AI tonight, I was like... oh yeah, I can totally see Chris singing, "Young Turks" and Taylor doing, "Maggie May." But, to my surprise, I found out that the contestants were going to have to perform the great American standards, from an album that Rod's put out. So, I don't know that I'm looking forward to tonight very much... though, anything is possible. There could be some wonderful performances tonight, and leave me feeling quite happy. So, here we go with the remaining seven...
Chris is up first.. and let me say, my heart is a poundin' like crazy. Singing, "What A Wonderful World" which is a total shock. We're going to hear a MUCH different sound from this rocker tonight, and I can't wait. *sigh* Listen to that softness in his voice. And that outfit. Goodness, he's sooooooo sexy. He sounds absolutely incredible tonight. That timbre in his voice has me swooning. He started this show with a BANG... and there is NO WAY that you can forget a performance like that.
Paris is up next. Tonight she's going to sing, "Foolish Things." She was soooooooooooo smart to take on a Billie Holiday song. It's what she did in her audition that WOW'ed everyone. So, I can't even imagine her being anything but amazing tonight. This is what she does so well. And if she put out an album of songs such as these, I believe that I would purchase it, without a second thought. Her voice sounds so rich and warm. She's got this voice that just DOESN'T fit a young girl... and that's what blows me away. I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of her performance tonight.
Ha ha ha I LOVE IT! Ryan asked what is in Simon's drink, and Randy trumps in with, "I think that he might be drunk!" That's EXACTLY what should be slammed on him after his hateful comments, not once, but twice, to Taylor. YAY for that!!!
Taylor is now going to treat us to, "You Send Me," by Sam Cook. I loved Rod's comment... "Nobody sings this like Sam Cook, but he (Taylor) did a pretty good job." What a great choice that he's made... perfect for his voice. He's a little sedated, and it's nice to see. No comments from Simon tonight about being drunk... unless it's said about Simon himself. And there's a little of that Taylor energy at the end... and I loved it. Nice performance tonight.
And I have to say that I believe that's the nicest comment that Simon has EVER made to Taylor.
Elliott is performing, "It Had To Be You." Ohhhhh, I love the casual stance that he had, starting off, leaning on the mic stand. He looks truly comfortable on the stage tonight, and that's a great thing to see. He looks relaxed, and really good with that happiness coming off of his face. He sounds really good... as usual. I'm not too big on this song, but coming from him, it's a bit more interesting.
Man, so far, this has been a GREAT show. Three more to go. And if the last three are as good as the first four, it's going to be a VERY hard decision tomorrow night. And I really like hearing the judges tonight, for the first time. They have spoken truth, and given real commentary to them. Though, Simon's whole "Your personality was lacking" comment was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.
Kellie is up next with, "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered." Oh, there she went with another, "dumb" moment, regarding Rod's comments about the words/lyrics. Well, she sounds pretty good... but, she is my least favorite of the night. (Hey, someone has to be, right?) Maybe it's the song choice. I don't like the song... at all. And, I've never heard it, so I was, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, bored to tears.
Ace is up, ready to knock on someone's door, and sale something. My goodness, he's totally dressed up in a sense that he looks like he's going to a business meeting, or something. Anyway.... he's performing, "That's All," tonight. I'm sorry, but the hair is completely throwing me off. And, I don't find ANY interest in this performance. I'm bored, and thinking about taking a potty break before we're sliding on to the last performance of the night. (Second least favorite tonight)
Katharine is finishing us off tonight, singing, "Someone To Watch Over Me." GREAT song choice. I love the sultry voice she's be blessed with. And on top of that, my goodness, she looks so incredibly beautiful tonight. Like my aunt commented to me over the weekend... she looks like someone from the 40's, with that classic look. I feel like I should be sitting in a smoky club, listening to this performance, and I don't mean that in a bad, or insulting way. She just totally amazed me tonight. She brought the song tonight, and closed the show in the perfect way.
So, there were only two people that I didn't enjoy tonight. Kellie, and Ace. Either could go home tomorrow night from their performances tonight, and I wouldn't be upset in any way.
I loved Chris tonight, as usual. He was so amazing. But, Katharine was, in my opinion, the best tonight.
Here's my placement on the performances tonight:
1. Katharine
2. Chris
3. Paris
4. Elliott
5. Taylor
6. Ace
7. Kellie
