Fired 'Apprentice' touts bagel diet post #1  quote:

Fired 'Apprentice' touts bagel diet

By TARA MERRIN -- Calgary Sun

Brent Buckman's mom must have been one heck of a nurturer.

What else could explain his amazingly high confidence level after being fired by Donald Trump on The Apprentice, criticized for being overweight on TV, and ostracized by all his teammates?

"I think my team felt threatened by me," says the 30-year-old Toronto-raised lawyer when asked why his entire team seemed to despise him.

"They looked at me as a very strong candidate because of my unique personality. And the fact that I was going to take risks -- I would have made them look bad."

While his teammates, who constantly complained Buckman was disruptive and lazy, would likely find his comments a tad delusional, it's hard not to love someone who loves himself.

Even after watching his competitors rip him to shreds on TV, Buckman continues to feel he was the best person for the job.

"I was in complete and utter shock when Mr. Trump fired me -- I totally didn't think I was going home that evening," he says from his home in Fort Lauderdale.

"I still think I should have been Mr. Trump's next Apprentice."

Though not liked from the very beginning, Buckman was ultimately done in by his decision to pick a boardroom fight with his teammates, who didn't even seem to be targeting him for dismissal.

Now, months later, he explains he was sure they were going to team-up against him, so he beat them to the punch.

"I certainly am not a doormat and I'm not going to let people push me around. I'm very proud of the fact that I did stick up for myself."

Buckman says the final straw came when his team told him he couldn't give the presentation for Post Cereal's Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch because he was overweight and didn't portray the proper image.

Instead, project manager Tammy Trenta asked Sean Yazbeck, a fit, good looking English man, to make the presentation, resulting in the team's loss.

While Buckman insists he was not hurt by Trenta's decision, he has lost 62 lb. since appearing on the popular reality show.

Now he plans on marketing his bizarre diet, The 4 Bagel Plan, which consists of eating nothing but bagels and protein.

"I know it works because I lost 110 pounds on it when I was 18 and I've already lost 62 pounds this time," he says. "I feel great."

The only way a bagel diet would work would be to only eat the middle.

Did you see Brent stack those bad boys? He made a bagel sandwich. A bagel inside a bagel.

Did you see in the episode last night how, when they went back to the boardroom and everyone saw Brent was gone the old PM said "i'm glad we got rid of all that extra weight" and as she said that, the camera was shooting a bunch of bagels.

I caught that, pretty funny. I thought they would have shown a picture of Brent then zoomed in on a scale.
