i hope heath doesn't win for actor. I wanna go see Capote b/c i heard PSH is a shoe-in. But I think BBM will win best picture. I don't know, i still have more films to see and i have a month... i'll tell you in... 3 weeks

I need to catch up, too. I feel like a hack though scrambling to see these movies once they are nominated. I like seeing a movie, liking it, then seeing it get nominated.
Like I told you about Training Day, I walked out of the theater and said Denzel will get nominated. I still can't believe you don't like that movie...
it was so lame. i was so surprised when i saw denzel nominated. i hated that movie.
I usually see most of the movies B/F they get nominated and feel all good, but i haven't been the avid movie-goer this year. but i still have to make my picks b/f the oscars! so, i gotta catch up. IF THAT MEANS GOING TO THE THEATRES ALONE, dammit, i'll take one for the team...........................................

I saw Capote. Okay, PSH is awesome. I kept forgetting it was an actor, and he made me not like him. He made me believe this guy was egotistical and selfish. It was a good movie. He's got my pick for actor, as of now, but I still have 2 more to see......

However, I have never seen video of Capote before, seen his picture (that I can recall) or read a description of him. So he could have played it with a Boston accent and I would be none the wiser. Now I have read that it's a spot on impersonation. I just think that in the minds of the Academy voters that portraying a celebrity that is more recognizable might sway more votes, like Phoenix as Johnny Cash. It worked for Foxx as Ray Charles. Who knows. I haven't seen Walk The Line so I can't say which I liked better.
As a movie I did like Capote. Having gone into this movie with very little knowledge of the man or the plot of the film I can say it was well done but tended to drift in a few different directions that never got a pay off, so to speak.
I did see Walk the Line, and Joaquin was awesome. But the fact that he sang all those songs and still sounded like johnny cash did it for me. I just think this character of capote might have been harder to do - there's more to this character that he needed to portray. The manipulator, the liar, the egotistical jerk, the drunk, the entertainer, the internal conflict. Joaquin did play a good junkie and he sings awesome. and I love him. but my vote still goes to PSH. I wouldn't be bummed if JP wins though. He's long overdue.

Okay quick draw mcgraw, i said my vote was for PSH... sheeesh. I actually think that Jamie "i think i'm the greatest" foxx winning last year for Ray will actually HINDER JP winning this year.

well i don't think enough people saw hustle and flow to reward it. heath ledger was great but not better than PSH, JP we've discussed and I have yet to see David Strathairn in "good night and good luck"
So it can't be sponge-bob for the episode "free balloon day" or anything. The pick seems pretty good.

Well, tonight is the night. This is the Super Bowl for me. If I cannot and choose not to have any drama in my life on or outside this board...then I will darn well live vicariously through people I do not personally know who live fictitious lives for 2-3 hours at a time.
So, it's five loads of laundry, and shopping at Target...in a short span of time.
I better get off this board.
