Nice People Who Help Animals post #1  quote:

Panda's puppy was abandoned, and they adopted him.

Whidden's little muffin dog was burnt and needed some serious attention

Kris certainly should have a few stories involving her aunty's doggies.

Perhaps we can hear these great stories of puppy rescues in more detail? And these puppy lives after being rescured... If you can exagerate the story to involve abseiling, even better.

Our rescued puppies:
I can only name the ones we've had since I've been in Taiwan, but Yoyo's been doing this for more than 15 years...

Tama:
We had the cutest English Sheep dog years ago. She actually died the day I moved to Taiwan (though I'd spent an entire month with her previously) at the age of 13 (ish). Yoyo simply found her on the side of the road, incredibly malnutrished and covered in some sort of skin disease. After taking her in, giving her plenty of food and giving her medicine for the skin disease, Tama lived about more 5 years.

Due to her brittle bones and lack of teeth (her mouth had NO teeth, which made her tongue stick out all the time, which was actually quite cute) the vet and Yoyo figured that she must've been a breeding dog previously, especially since she's a perfect specimen of an English Sheep Dog.

We're not too sure what she died of, old age I guess. I'd rather think that then she just plain didn't like me...

Cocoa:
The dalmation you can see in this picture:

was given to Yoyo by someone who simply kept her out of vanity. Cocoa won lots of dog shows in her day, and when she got too old and couldn't compete, the owner decided enough was enough. Lucky she didn't get to the point of abandonment, but Yoyo quickly found Cocoa actually had a disease (I forgot what, I'd need to ask) and had to take some sort of poison with a 50/50 chance of surviving. Which she did She was my baby up until the day she died 2 years back. Loved me to death... I called her my shadow. Even when I went to take the trash out, I'd let her follow me out. She'd never run away from me and was incredibly obediant when I needed her to stay or be quiet...

Also not quite sure what she died of... old age also, I think. She was about 14.

Jiro:

Was given to us by a breeder. His balls hadn't dropped, so he was basically un-mateable and un-sellable. Mean ******** were going to put him down if they couldn't find him a home.

Turns out he has nerve damage, though, so his rear legs are basically non-functional. He still gets around though

Xiao Hu:

There was a construction site near where Yoyo used to live. Construction sites always have "dogs". Not sure why, but its almost like a tradition. This construction site closed down, finito, final... and they just left Xiao Hu there, in a cage... with enough water to last one a day He was the sweetest, funniest dog though.

He died last year of... something, I forget. He was old too though

More to come at a later date (I lost interest in this thread for some reason )

GRAPHIC PHOTO TO FOLLOW

This is a dog an friend of mine saved about a year back.

His name is Lazarus. This is from a presentation they gave at a dog expo last weekend.

The large picture is of Lazarus when he was first saved... it's quite graphic. Be careful........

The doggy next to the picture is also Lazarus... a happy, healthy pup
