I think there are quite a few members here at Inreview that would benefit from using the ignore feature.

I used it once myself, before becoming a mod, and it was pure NIRVANA.
The offending posts, created by my nemesis, posts that made me want to punch the computer screen with my fist, well in it's place was a nice little sentence that said:
This person is on your ignore list.
Personally, I found it absolute bliss. It was like I banned them or something.
However, talking to folks around here over the years, there are few like myself, who found it liberating. They were simply just to curious as to what their nemesis was saying.
Curiosity overwhelmed them, and they had to take it off, so they could read what was being said.
Also, they are able to see the ignored persons posts, if someone else quotes them in their post. So they might see a snippet of something and want to respond.
My viewpoint is this: If another member is causing you mental stress with their posts, and your stomach is full of acid all the time, and your Internet experience is one of emotional turmoil, isnt' it worth a little unresolved curiosity, if you can get some peace and quiet?
The odds are, if you put someone on ignore, they won't even notice it. And if you do make some big stink of it and put them on ignore and tell them, "I'm putting you on ignore!",
they are not going to care anyway. They will think it's funny.
The ignore feature is not to hurt you fellow poster, by shaming them, or making them angry,
it's to help you not have to see their silly useless posts.
If you are a vindictive person, like I am sometimes , it will give you a little thrill of satisfaction, knowing that someone worked hard on a post, and it's unread by you.
The ignore feature is really very empowering. If you can move past the point where you feel you are missing out on something.
All you are missing out on, is a post by someone that makes you angry and emotional and off balance.
I think if you can move past that initial curiosity about what they are saying, and keep them on ignore for a few weeks, it will become easier and easier.

I've been busy with other things, so in a way I've been using a different kind of ignore... Sorry, guys. I had a number of changes in my life, that occurred in quick succession. Even now, I only have time for a quick notice to let you all know that I'm still alive and OK. I'll be back and posting more regularly by the end of this coming week, when I have access to the internet from home again. I've also changed jobs, so no more internet access from work (although I'm at work now, but today is a day of catch-up and nobody else is in, so it doesn't really count, because I can't do this all the time... Only once in a blue moon...)
Once things are back on an even keel, I'll post a short summary on what changes have occurred and why I've been away...
