That's a great post, SWTT.

quote:
Myth #1: Pornography is a victimless act:

Fact:victims include
*spouse or future spouse
*kids or future kids
*yourself--the way we see ourselves
*porn actors and actresses

quote:
Myth #4 Porn is just entertainment.
Fact: Comes out of pain, lonliness, fear of relationship.
*Creates unrealistic expectations of how sexual intimacy is supposed to be.
*Less interested in having sex with spouse.
*Loss of interest in pursuing marital relationship.

I'm having a hard time navigating this Firefox browser, so I will come back later, either on IE or with more patience for Firefox, but I am glad that some people are willing to view pornography as a disease...an addiction. Too much importance is placed on other addictions and the treatment of those addictions and how those chemical addictions affect the addict's life and the lives of those who love them. What about the people who are suffering because of someone else's addiction to porn?

Will this problem ever be taken seriously? It is shaping the way "intimacy" will be viewed in the future. Is that healthy for anyone?

I watched a little television today, and I think I was a little traumatized by what I saw. I saw a commercial for an agency encouraging people to have extramarital affairs if they are bored in their marriages. How can they get away with putting that on television? Isn't adultery grounds for divorce in the eyes of the law? How can they get away with advertising that smut, and enticing/encouraging people to wreck their marriages and families?

It's really sick to me, flutterbywingz, how such a thing as a cross symbol on a county seal in American society is considered a horrific thing warranting removal, while in comparison to things like pornography and adultery ruining relationships, marriages and screwing up children in the head to become future porn addicts is upheld as a good thing. Our society is in a shambles, utter shambles.

I am wondering if anyone else can see those things weighed on a balance to see how completely off balance our society is.

cross symbol on
a county seal

porn and adultery as good things for society...relationships, marriage, and children

How do they weigh in?

My fiance hates porn so it's banned from our house but it doesn't bother me, once your in a realtionship you can it's easier to leave behind the made up world of porn. However I can think of a couple of cases where I personally think use of porn is ok.

I have heard of couples who get a mutual enjoyment out of watching porn and in that kind of case there is no problem. what 2 adults consent to do with thier sex lives should be no issue with anyone else as long as what they are doing is legal of course.

Also you have cases of physically disabled men or old widowed men who know the chances of them having sex are slim to say the least os I don't think them looking at poen is such a terrible thing.

Of course maybe we should weigh it up is it worse for men to look at porn for sexual relief or to go to a prostitute for sexual relief. Which is the lesser of the two evils?

Without reading any post here, I have to say, yes- porn is very expensive. Way too much money.

Now I will go read this thread and assume that is what everyone is talking about.

As far as porno 'ruining' any kind of 'normal' sex us non-porno stars have, let me just tickle those with some historical context- sex used to be so rampant in centuries past it was as common as skipping down the street. I don't want to get into details, but there were more than just than John and Jane Doe doing the hibbidy dibbidy at once.

Let me flip it this way: porno, if you will, has always been there. I will wager in the same amount per person on this planet. Only difference it's on film and paper now. The almighty internet has thrown it in our face more than never before.

As with anything, if porno didn't sell it wouldn't be there. It's not going anywhere.

I think the biggest stigma toward porn comes from the USA. We have the most censorship and we're being more and more choked by it every year. Look at other countries, there is so much T&A that is readily available on regular TV. Are there generations of deviants? Negative. I'm not saying hardcore porn should be free for all ages, but if you don't like it, change the channel.

Sex in all fashions doesn't always equal love. Love makes it all that much more better and so much more special. But life is about experiences and sex has a lot of different forms. When you're young and of consenting age I say meet people but be smart, have fun but be safe, live life but know there is a tomorrow and keep on keepin' on. And never, never visit a lady of the night. That's just not cool.

I've not seen any proof that porn harms anyone. I've watched porn and I am sure 80 to 90% of adult Americans have watched it at least once in their life. There are still people getting married. The idea that porn harms people is simply BS!

It can also be said porn is immoral, however, this does not mean it should be banned. Speaking of banning a cross on a county seal or removing porn from drugstore magazine racks, isn't there always some group trying to ban something???

Where prostitution is concerned who cares who is 'dating' prostitutes? or even whether prostitution is taking place locally??

I just know several men who are self proclaimed addicts of porn and they say that it affects how they view women and men. They are constantly having to battle the objectification of men and women that comes with incessant porn "use."

I am guessing that you have never asked a woman whether she feels harmed or not when unreality dictates to real people how sex and life should be performed.

I am guessing that you have never asked the victim of a sexual crime whether he/she was harmed or not when his/her perpetrator developed a rape fantasy after getting the idea from a simulated rape scene in a porn movie.

I am guessing that you don't understand how twisted and complex the human mind can get, or how arousal can be psychological, rather than strictly physical.

I am guessing that you believe you are the rule and not the exception.

I think pornography has been around in some form since forever. Before it became such a vsiual medium, it was the written word taht got everyone fired up and they've had brothels since before time began, so sex has always been somewhat in your face.
.

romans and greeks watched each other have sex in person since the internet and videos didn't exist.
