I think Steve Carell did a good job portraying the meek nerdy guy. So innocent. He wasn't desperate, he just gave up. Then you have all his horny friends who are all jacked up because all they do is worry about getting chicks. Interesting allagory.
Yeah, I gotta agree with that. I've seen a lot of people complaining about the movie's premise being BS, since if you're a guy, 40, and a virgin, you'd be after it all the time... but I'd doubt it's like that. Physically, he still felt the need (hence the opening scene with the front of his pants sticking out), but he just didn't give a hoot anymore.

The egg salad part was classic. Especially in contrast to the Tijuana story just before hand...
