Execs at Fox's 24 are thinking about transporting Jack Bauer to the big screen. Jon Cassar, one of the show's producer/directors, told the Calgary Sun that a 24 movie has been discussed, but added that "it could still be two years from now, so it's far too early to say." Should the project pan out, Cassar said it would not follow the show's real-time format entirely. "The first hour will not be in real time," he said. "But then something big will happen and real time will kick in." As will Chloe's inner Terminator.

I think a 24 movie would be cool... but a whole season almost plays out like one big movie. I would totally see it, but why not just stay on the small screen?
hehehe instead of calling it 24 they could call it "2"
I do agree that they could just stick to the small screen, but I think the execs are thinking of the money that a motion picture will bring in for them... I mean, I'd go see it.
Though it'd be weird seeing the first part not being in real-time.

Yeah, that's the whole point of the show and what makes it great. It's like having a Greatest American Hero movie without the cool suit. It makes no sense!
I really think they could make a pretty kick-ass 2+ hour real-time movie, still call it 24, and people wouldn't kick up that much of a stink. Only on the condition they actually have a worthwhile story, though.

I didn't get past the first season of pretender. I did like it though. If you can, SWTT, PM me and tell me what happened? I don't think people here'll like spoilers on the show (even if it isn't 24).....
I think the X-Files did their movie about half-way through their run... though the show started to lose momentum around that point.

Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland has confirmed popular TV drama 24 is to hit the big screen. Sutherland, who plays federal agent Jack Bauer on the show, recently joked a spoof version would make great cinema viewing. But he now tells MTV.com plans for a straight blockbuster film are already in motion. He says, "The 24 movie would be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day. That would be the first time that we would not do something in real time, but the characters would obviously all be derivative of the show. The timing issue is something the writers are working on right now. But the sky's the limit at that point for them, because we would not be restricted by the time element."

Obviously I am all for it, but not making it in real time kind of takes away the essence of the show. It will still rule, but they have to keep that hurry up pace of the show.
