Guess I'll have to look for that and play it back. I don't recall that at all.
It was either Monday or Tuesday..I know it was about the same time Anthony left...if not the week before. I do remember that comment well because Ryan asked him about making that prediction and what he thought about it now...Simon said he would stick with it. (something along those words).
Yep, agreed, so we won't beat a dead horse-at least not until next week.
Well, what difference does next week make? I mean they both are getting a contract...Bo might lose...but even if he does, he still gets the contract and the fame to go with it.
If you think that a rocker isnt going to try out if Bo comes in second place as opposed to first...Id beg to differ with that as well. Some will try out...I mean, out of millions of people trying out...Bo is at least coming in second. Coming in second is excellent when you look at it in terms of MILLIONS of people trying out.....you may hate him...but he isnt going anywhere.
You arent gonna buy his CD, I know that...but the fact remains, that they are both getting signed...whether he is or isnt "the idol" at this point...I dont think he could care less.
This isnt so much about being "the idol" to these people as much as it is to become famed and make a career for themselves in the music industry. Thats the bottom line for these people...The American Idol TV show is just a step to get them there...and they are BOTH on their way (along with a few others that didnt even get to the finale..such as Vonzell). Someone will sign her as well..I guarantee it.
At this point...for me, I dont care who wins the "idol" title, it means nothing to me as a title. I mean, my favorite will definitely now make a CD, your favorite will make a CD, and as far as I can see, its a happy ending for all.
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)

VERY WELL said, mystic..... it doesn't matter. They will both get contracts!!!
My goddess... why do people get so upset over someone that they don't like, winning? OTHER people like that person, so move on. It's not a national crisis. I love Carrie, she's been my pick since day one.... but, will I be so shattered if Bo wins the title? Laws no... this does NOT impact my life. You don't like Bo... don't buy his cd. You don't like Carrie... don't buy her cd. I didn't like Fantasia, at all... .and I didn't purchase a single thing from her.... but, I have Diana DeGarmo's cd... and I listen to it EVERY SINGLE day.

Let me clarify and expand on my point here. Whether Bo wins or not, I expect to see the number of rockers auditioning next year increase by two or three times the number from this season, far more than in Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 and Season 4. You may love that idea. I hate it. Pure and simple.

We agree on that, except that I'll take it a step further and say that, in the long run, Carrie will make many, many albums, more than Bo, I believe. Yes, I'm still calling them albums. A CD can be an album or it can be a single.
The only thing Bo has over Carrie is experience. He's older and has been doing his schtick for years. Carrie definitely has to get the experience. That's the only department she's lacking in. She has a great voice and the makings of a superstar, IMHO.

I know you hate it, as Im sure others do, but there are others that happen to like this genre of music. We really dont know how many rockers try out per year since we dont see every audition..there may have been many but just didnt make the grade to the judges liking that year.
See...I think it all depends on WHEN a person trys out. For instance, had Vonzell tried out last year...Id almost guarantee that she would have won over Fantasia. Sometimes it just comes down to timing and what people are looking for in terms of music.

But see thats just your opinion...I wonder if you said the same thing about....say...Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, etc...Many rockers have become superstars...just because you dont listen to that music, doesnt mean that your type of music sells more. I mean rock has been around for many years, and seems to be still going strong. Did you predict that Mick Jagger wouldnt survive against others you liked during that time as well?
For example..The Rolling Stones gave themselves a name in 1962. Singers such as Paul Anka, Ricky Nelson, Bobby Rydell were also popular in 1962. Guess who is still singing and still selling out concerts? Thats correct...the Rolling Stones.
Im not saying Carrie wont outsell him or make more albums (and personally I dont care...if she does, great for her!! )...but to say that she will for sure...well, I wouldnt put an firm bet on that statement because people change the music they like. Before Garth Brooks, there were people that liked country music but it was BECAUSE of Garth Brooks that country music became popular. But many country artists have come and gone...even Garth hasnt put out an album in years. Aerosmith started in 1964...I saw them in concert in the 80's, and look at them now..they are still bigger than ever.
I guess my overall point is that just because you personally dont like a genre of music doesnt mean that a person or a band in that genre will fail over your preferred genre. There are too many facts that do not support your opinion.
Personally, I plan on buying both CD's. I like Carries voice....but when my mood changes, my music preference changes. Some days when Im in an upbeat mood, I have Heart, Rush, Styx, etc in my CD player...in my mellow moods, I have Clay Aiken or She-Daisy, Clint Black, etc. in my CD player.
So...I dont care who sells more...I wish them both the best of luck...they set out to do something and both succeeded along with the others as well...so I think regardless of the "type" of music or the industry itself, this should tell the children of today that if you want something bad enough and you are willing to work for it...there is that chance that they can do it.
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)

I got it as well....I still really like Diana! Id like to see her get a manager that promotes her a little more than she has now....I think she can become bigger if given the right management team.

Mystic, my good friend -
Not much to debate about at all. You have your tastes, likes & dislikes. I have mine. Never the twain shall meet.
There was a singer in the fifties named Tony Bennett. He's still singing today. There were dozens (if not hundreds) of rock groups that sang in the seventies, eighties and nineties that are no longer around, so your point is moot. You can find an exception to almost anything. The songs and the singers of the forties, fifties & sixties will be played occasionally for your great-grandchildren. So will The Stones, The Dead and a few other selected groups, but absolutely not to the same extent. They're still playing Beethoven & Tchaikowsky centuries later, for heavens sake. Quality music lives on. Fad music eventually withers and dies. No one can predict the future, but if I had to place a bet as to the likelihood of a recording of Carrie Underwood being played in the year 2040 vs. a recording of Bo Bice, my money would be on Carrie.

Yes, I already know this.....that was my point to you...I dont need a point to be made to me. I wasnt the one stating that one would be better than the other in terms of anything. I already said I wish both good luck and success. you spend more time preaching your hatred for Bo instead of just saying you dont like it, but you wish him the best...I mean how difficult is it for you to say that you wish success for someone even though you dont care for their particular taste in music?

Of course it would...youve said that more times than any of us can count on both our hands and feet now...do you honestly feel that we are surprised by that comment? Youre hatred for Bo and rock n roll obviously tells you to say this...we wouldnt expect any other comment from you.
the difference between you and I is that I wish both to have major success...you only want one to succeed...and thats sad to want one to fail just because YOU dont like that music...some of us do, and we would like him to succeed, then again, I dont wish for anyone to fail in any endeavor no matter what the industry they have chosen for themselves.
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)

{Sigh} No, I don't want Bo to fail. I just don't want him to win. I think I can safely say that, in spite of your statement that you want both to succeed, you don't want Carrie to win. So, what's fair is fair.
I'll let you have the last word. I've said it all.

Well, I will say the last word...because what I said was I would like to see him win (because Im ready to see someone different win)....but Im not gonna rant and rave if he doesnt. Personally I could care less because the title of "idol" means nothing to me anymore and that is based only on the fact that I know he will be coming out with a CD...
Thats all I wanted...as for who wins...I dont care anymore..they both won in my eyes anyways...they both end up with the same thing...the only difference is one gets the title, the other doesnt...and really...who gives a ...who cares about that?
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)
