There's been all sorts of chat of late about why Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton are no longer best buddies.
But now Nicole has really stuck the knife in by hanging out with Paris' younger sister Nicky at a recent event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cartier.
Having been friends for ages, Paris and Nicole teamed up to star in their own reality TV show The Simple Life.
However, after many years of hanging out at celebrity events, the rich kids suddenly fell out.
Neither will reveal what sparked the split, but denied rumours include Nicole being jealous of the media attention that Paris gets, another cites Nicole inviting Paris and their friends around to watch a DVD but putting on Paris' infamous sex video instead.
But whatever the truth is, Paris told Heat magazine that they have fallen out for good and that Nicole won't be returning for the fourth season.
Supposedly the rift between Paris and Nicole is based on a lot of small things, But I guess when you add them all together, they become enough to end a life-long friendship.
Nicole used to be very similar to Paris, but in the last year or two she has genuinely settled down and she doesn't enjoy the party girl lifestyle any more. She doesn't wnat to be known as a stupid spoilt rich party girl forever. She has a great boyfriend (fiancee), she is well known, she's well liked (generally) she has an acting ( ) career, a possible singing career, her life is just coming together and Paris' life is still coming apart at the seems.
Nicole doesn't want to forever be remembered as being Paris' sidekick. She wants to make a name for herself.
They also supposedly had lots of little fights while filming the Simple Life. I think the gist is that Paris hates everybody while Nicole actually felt quite close to some of the familes they stayed with and the people they met on their travels, but Paris would slag them off and ***** about everyone all the time. I can understand that after a few years of travelling with someone who is like that 100% of the time would get on your nerves.
Then there was Paris' inappropraie use of the "n-word" which was said to be the biggest blow to their friendship, beacsue of course, Nicole's "father" is black.
Then Nicole played the Hilton sex tape at a party. Although as far as I know, this was never proven or commented on in any way by either of the girls. The story was that Nicole had a copy of the tape (god knows why) and she took it to a party, or lent it to someone at a party, and there were big screens at the party and someonbe played the tape on the big screens causing Paris to ruin home crying. Nicole made no effort to comfort her or console Paris over this incident and then people started saying she had been the one who put the tape in. No one has said anything to confirm or deny it so we can't really know.
Then there was an incident where Nicole was at a famous fancy restaurant and Paris came in and tried to pull the "do you know who I am" routine on a couple who were sitting at "her" table. Paris was promptly booted out of the restaurant by the managers, again without any consolation from Nicole.
Then there are the people saying that Nicole is just jealous of how famous Paris is. Paris has make up, jewelery, perfume, clubs, hotels, clothing, hand-bags (well Nicky does, but Paris is tryingt o start a line as well), a CD and a movie career. I guess it's possible that Nicole if jealous. But it seems everyone in Hollywood can get a clothing Line or a purfume deal, so if Nicole wanted one, she could probably get one. She could also probably be in movies if she wanted to and she supposedly has a CD in the works, so I don't see really how much jealousy can be possible, when they're practically living the same life.
I think it's just that they've grown apart. I'd hope they can mend whatever has caused the rift in their friendship. Friendship is special even when you're a Hollywood Whore and they shouldn't throw away the 23 years they have known each other if it's only over something silly.
"THE Simple Life's" Nicole Richie just might stick around for another season - despite what co-star Paris Hilton says.
With "The Simple Life: 3" season finale just two days away, Fox says no decision has been made on whether Richie will return for a fourth season.
And that decision isn't expected to be made for at least several weeks, insiders say.
Hilton has been telling anyone who'll listen that Richie is off the show and is being replaced by Kimberly Stewart (daughter of rocker Rod Stewart).
But there's been no official announcement regarding Stewart, and it appears to be purely speculative at this point - and/or wish- fulfillment on Hilton's part.
Hilton and Richie, once close pals, had a falling out last month, although just what caused the rift remains in question. "It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends," Hilton said in a
statement. "Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it."
Some say the fight erupted when Richie invited pals over to watch "The Simple Life" - and then screened Hilton's infamous X-rated tape that made the rounds on the Internet. Star magazine theorized that Hilton's hard-partying ways drove a wedge between the co-stars, while In Touch surmised that Hilton used a racial slur aimed at Richie.
TV Guide reports that, if Richie leaves the show, it could be to star in her own reality show with her fiancee, DJ Adam Goldstein. "We are currently discussing internally the creative direction of the next 'The Simple Life,' " Fox said in a statement. "We are huge fans of both Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie and look forward to solidifying our plans for the next installment."
Season three's finale airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on FOX.
I can envisage Paris getting Kimberley Stewart on the show. With Kimberley as Paris' new "best friend" and Kimberley trying to get a music and/ or acting career going, this could be Kimberley's ticket to B-grade stardom.
I can't see Nicole doing a reality show by herself. I think if she gets kicked off the Simple Life, she might even fade quietly into the background and just enjoy a real Simple Life.

Aspiring actresses and feuding friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are set to do battle at the box office in November -- they both star in films that will be released on the same day.
Filmmaker Andrew Shaifer, who produced and wrote Richie's debut film, "Kids in America," has accused the team behind Hilton's "Pledge This!" of purposefully synchronizing the release date clash to generate publicity.
"The Simple Life" reality TV co-stars mysteriously fell out in January and have refused to divulge the reason behind their rift, with Hilton saying, "All I will say is that Nicole knows what she did and that's all I am ever going to say about it."
Shaifer, who arranged his film's release date in April, says, "It was just announced that Paris' movie will open the same day. It is obvious something is going on. My feeling is this was done on purpose."
Despite his anger over the date clash, Shaifer tells Page Six he is confident in Richie's big screen abilities after seeing Hilton's acting attempt in the horror film "House of Wax" earlier this year.
He boasts, "Either way, I am glad we have Nicole in our movie. After seeing 'House of Wax,' we obviously got the better actress. I want to put Nicole in another movie. I have specifically written a role with her in mind -- she is that talented."
However, Hilton's representative responds, "Andrew must be mistaken. There is no official release date yet."
Paris Hilton is trying to prove that she's the bigger woman in the battle of Paris vs. Nicole. She's written an apology letter to her former friend and "Simple Life" co-star, Nicole Richie, in hopes that they may move on and be chummy again.
Back in April, Paris admitted to the strain in her friendship with Richie. "It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it," Paris said in a statement.
Many wondered what is was Nicole had done to the hotel heiress, narrowing the start of the feud down to two options: either
1) Nicole had a Paris Hilton sex tape screening party; or
2) Nicole had trouble keeping Paris's secrets out of the press.
No matter the initial cause of the fight, Hilton is ready to forgive and forget.
According to a source for gossip website, Female First, "Paris just wanted to call things a day after friends stepped in and told her she was being petty."
While Paris's motive for a reconciliation is most likely innocent, it is a little suspicious that she's seeking to renew her friendship with Nicole just as their reality show is about to be permanently shelved. Hmmmm...

That seems about right to me that the only reason they would want to reconcile this friendship would be to keep the series going. T
here is a chance that another network will pick the series up but any new network will want Paris and Nicole for the series, not Paris and Kimberley or anyone else.
