I ran across this today.
It has been a long-standing tradition to show support for our military servicemembers putting their lives on the line for our freedoms and liberties. At one point, the United States Postal Service issued star placards to families who had members serving in the military. There were three types of star placards:
There is now a resurgence to place a placard in your window with a Star to indicate the status of your Veteran.
Blue Star = Means a member of the household is or was in the military
Silver Star = Means a member of the household served OVERSEAS.
Gold Star = Means a member of the household died during military service
