DUI charges for Cardinals Pro Bowl Receiver David Boston post #1  quote:

Police recommend DUI charges for Boston

PHOENIX (AP) -- Police are recommending that Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl receiver David Boston be charged with driving under the influence of cocaine and marijuana.

Blood tests taken after Boston was detained last month for "performing very poorly" during a field sobriety test showed the presence of the drugs, Det. Tony Morales said Tuesday. He said the tests showed no alcohol in Boston's system.

Police recommended that the city prosecutor's office charge Boston with one misdemeanour charge of driving under the influence of drugs and another misdemeanour charge of operating a vehicle while generally impaired, Morales said.

Officials at the city prosecutor's office said Tuesday that they hadn't received the police recommendations.

Boston was taken into custody at his home March 13 after two people called 911 and said they had followed a car there that appeared to be driven by someone impaired, Morales said.

After talking to his lawyer, Boston submitted to a blood test at a police substation, Morales said. Boston wasn't arrested or cited, and was released after the test.

Boston was one of the NFL's top players last season, making it to the Pro Bowl after leading the NFC in receiving yards with a Cardinals record 1,598.

The Cardinals will monitor Boston's case while it's in the legal system, said team spokesman Paul Jensen. All NFL employees are subject to a league policy for off-field conduct.

Boston's lawyer, Larry DeBus, was out of his office and couldn't immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
