GWEN STEFANI and Jennifer Lopez are two big names on the cards to appear at the MTV Australia Video Music Awards to be held in March.
Awards organisers are in negotiations to add the two heavy-hitters to the ceremony's line-up in order to boost its star status.
Stefani is currently one of the hottest acts in music due to the release of her debut solo album, which features the No.1 hit What You Waiting For?
And the No Doubt frontwoman has also entered the acting field with a bang this year, playing Hollywood screen siren Jean Harlow in The Aviator alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Cate Blanchett.
Stefani has been nominated in three categories for the VMAs, which will be held at Luna Park on March 3 - Best Female Artist, Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Dressed Video.
MTV Australia is also understood to be in discussions to entice J-Lo to appear, though organisers admit getting her here will be ``a big ask'' and it's unclear in what capacity she would appear at the awards.
The Osbourne family - Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly and Jack - will host the ceremony.
US punk rock acts Green Day and Simple Plan will both perform and singers/reality TV couple Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are also expected to make an appearance.

MTV Australia Awards Lands Ja Rule

The upcoming MTV Australia Video Music Awards have received a star-boost, with a bunch more international acts confirmed to perform at the March ceremony.
Prominent American rappers Ja Rule, Xzbit and Chingy, plus rock act Switchfoot have been added to a bill which already includes pop-punk bands Green Day and Simple Plan plus Aussie acts Missy Higgins, the Dissociatives, Thirsty Merc, Grinspoon and Eskimo Joe.
ANNA Nicole "Do you like my body?" Smith is heading to Sydney next week for the MTV music awards at Luna Park.
Minders will be on hand at the awards in the all too likely event that Smith is too sloshed to present her award, as per her famous performance at the recent American Music Awards.
Sydney can expect a memorable red carpet performance from the curvaceous Texan who will no doubt steal the show from the show's hosts the Osbourne family.
While Smith pulled the pin at the eleventh hour of her last visit to Sydney, Confidential hears the incredible shrinking (in parts) woman is also set to headline NW's Oscars live telecast lunch.

KELLY Osbourne is going to make quite an entrance to the MTV Australia Video Music Awards if her mother has anything to do with it.
The pop singer says her mum Sharon wants her to descend from the heights at Luna Park when she takes the stage to perform her single, One Word, on March 3.
"My Mum wants me to come down to the stage from the ceiling," Kelly said. "But I'm terrified of heights. I'm going to **** myself."
Osbourne, who will be joined in Sydney for the awards by her whole family, including doddering Dad Ozzie, is hoping that the NSW Government debt collectors have a short memory.
She hasn't paid the fine she received for under age drinking when she was here in 2002 and she has no plans to cough up.

Ozzy Osbourne astonishingly grabbed his daughter Kelly's left breast while being snapped in Australia yesterday (02.03.05).
The wild rocker was in Sydney with his daughter and wife Sharon to promote the Australian MTV Awards when he bizarrely reached out and cupped Kelly's left boob for the cameras, leaving onlookers stunned.

Anna Nicole took her top off on stage. She had some kind of writing on her breasts over her nipples. She is the stupidest person eveer to walk the face of the earth, honestly. The interviews she's been doing while she's been over here have been absolute farces. She can't even string a sentence together.
The Osbornes have been cussing all over the place.
I don't know what happened to Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Ja Rule, Xzbit, Chingy, Switchfoot, and Britney SPears, but it seems none of them turned up.
But Brian and Delat were there and Delta won heaps of awards, which is great. She is still getting the support in her home country. She beat Britney for Best Female Artist. Go Delta!
