The Black Eyed Peas’ front-vixen has the world reporting to the dance floor.
Unless you were living in a van down by the river, there was no avoiding the Black Eyed Peas’ tune “Let’s Get It Started” during the 2004 NBA playoffs. Yet despite hitting TV screens almost as often as Verizon’s suicidally grating “Can you hear me now?” ads, no one sued David Stern after shooting their TVs. He should thank the group’s frontwoman, Fergie. Her vocal stylings and gyrations even managed to save Detroit from going up in flames.
Fergie joined founding Black Eyed Peas will.i.am, alp.de.ap and Taboo in 2003 when she lent her voice to their hit single “Shut Up.” Since then, the Hacienda Heights, CA, native has helped the group build on its critical acclaim. It could be her cross-gender sex appeal. “People really love her—guys and girls,” Taboo has said in an interview. “She has great breasts and hips. The way she moves onstage is very exotic.”
Born Stacy Ferguson, Fergie’s career path treads familiar ground. Like Britney, the 29 year-old was a child TV star, appearing in Kids Incorporated alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt. Fergie and Spears even shared the same man: At the age of 23, Fergie dated a then-16-year-old Justin Timberlake.
“It wasn’t too serious,” Fergie has said of the relationship. “We had a really good time.” During this period, Fergie was a member of the all-female pop trio Wild Orchid. But with the Spice Girls ruling the girl-group world, big-time fame proved elusive.
After moving back home with her mom—where she still lives—everything has come full circle for Fergie. The Black Eyed Peas toured with Timberlake and Christina Aguilera last summer, and with the group’s fourth album, Monkey Business, due in early 2005, plus a solo album planned for midyear, Fergie’s fame threatens to continue swelling. Not content with chart domination, she’s also planning a return to acting.
“I want to get back into it one day,” Fergie has said. “[But] there’s no way I want to get into anything half-assed.” With a booty like hers, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Sierradaddy said this in post #2 : Anyone else find her face less than appealing? I don't think she's pretty in the face. The rest of her body makes up for it though...
She is like that chick on Sienfeld that looked ugly or good, according to what light she was in. And I do believe that was THE FESTIVUS episode, if memory serves.
Yeah, Kramer sabotaged the bagel store and called Elaine a scab for going in there. I think she was using the bagel place as her fake number. She wanted to get a free sandwich card back from some guy. Man, there was a lot going on that day. We should start a Seinfeld thread.
