The threat from life on Mars
| quote: |
Earth’s defences may need to be boosted against risk of potentially deadly microbes returning on space probes.
EARTH must take precautions to avoid contamination from lifeforms that must now be presumed to exist on Mars, leading scientists gave warning yesterday.
Potentially deadly microorganisms could be returned to Earth on a probe which is being planned to collect samples from the Martian surface. |
This is not new news, in fact, but it's coming back into the spotlight with the active Mars missions. The same level of precaution was in fact used for the return of lunar rocks to Earth because they had no way to rule out the possibility of microbes on the moon as well.
So I don't see there there's a heck of a major difference in the method of handling. They just need to dust off all the old apollo gear
Smile; It confuses people. |
