Eve Long said this in post #86 : MYSTIC AND BECKER EXPOSE DUPLICITOUS POLL FINDINGS.
Nation stunned as political surveys found to be irrelevant due to use of inadequate, biased sample sizes. Administration to advocate criminal charges against polling organizations for perpetrating scams. Duped media to file suit to recover fees paid for surveys.
"Findings from most polls, but particularly all polls that support Democratic positions, are unreliable and phoney," said Mystic in an interview this morning. After decades of service, the nation's pollsters are about to fold up their tents, following disclosure of these shocking revelations. It is anticipated that George W. Bush will demand that lie detector tests be administered to the executives of these polling organizations.

Wrong once again. I have no more time for the likes of you, Queen of Everything. Have a great life.
[ADMIN]You may think you're clever and cute, but if you do anything like this again, you will not be welcome back.[/ADMIN]
eve, if i read you right, it looks like you may be gone from here, so i don't know if you'll be reading this or not. i hope you are.
i share your frustration. it's like beating your head against a wall, isn't it? someone started this thread by correctly labeling george bush as a manipulative liar. evidently that got his sheep so riled up that they decided to get nasty and strike back at anything and everything that's not pro-bush, whether justified or not.
i don't know what you said that was censored. i didn't get to see it, but i'll bet i would have agreed with whatever it was.
funny how mystic posts an article knocking polls, constituting one man's opinion. ONE MAN'S OPINION! that's supposed to be gospel, but a scientific statistical sampling by a firm in the business of polling is garbage science. mystic contradicts herself by trusting in that ONE MAN'S opinion. she needs to get 290 million opinions for it to be valid. no doubt many polls taken are jokes, but certainly not EVERY SINGLE poll, especially those conducted by long-standing organizations that are routinely relied upon by the media and others, as mystic would have you believe.
the fact remains that those polls are trusted and used by many, and have been down through the decades. if not, they would have been done away with years ago. polls are accurate, provided they are performed with a nonbiased, random sample of the population, using the correct statistical standards for sample size and degree of reliability desired. gallup's track record shows how accurate it's been for nearly 70 years, in spite of mystic's and others' stubborn refusal to acknowledge that fact. there is no reason to assume that the sample size was inadequate in the poll in question here. the only thing we know is that mystic doesn't care for the findings of that poll, so it must be erroneous. as a matter of fact, if there was a poll that was anti-bush by 54.326%, which was later confirmed by counting the opinions of every single adult american that arrived at the same conclusion by 54.312%, mystic would dismiss it as 'phoney' because the sample size of the poll was only 800 people, and didn't include herself in the sample.
thank you for your contributions, eve. i hope you'll be sticking around, but i have to confess that i am considering jumping ship myself. i have no problem debating with people who differ by 180 degrees with my way of thinking, but i don't feel comfortable continuing to argue with those who won't, and don't, acknowledge when they're positively wrong on some points. one thing's for sure, at the very least, i won't be continuing to argue my case in this particular thread or on the topic of polling. i'm more than a little bit fed up with those who obstinately refuse to accept reality.

Thanks for the lecture Jim...but its obvious you missed the point entirely.
Try reading the article again, and then maybe you will see the REASON way polls arent accurate.
You didnt take my word on it...you dont take Beckers word on it, or Rons word, or many others for that matter...so I added a professional article into the mix thinking you might understand why polls are bias in many ways...because for some reason you dont think bias exists in polls at all.
If you want to believe every poll you read..thats fine with me...
But again, you have failed to answer my question...so Ill re-ask...
You have three polls done (same day, same amount of people, etc)...one said Bush was leading, one said Kerry was leading, the other said it was a tie....
Given the fact that you dont pass off any polls as incorrect or bias...which one is right? they cant all be right....so which one do you believe?
Do you understand the point now? They cant all be right...so there is something wrong in the polling world.
I have no problem debating with people who differ by 180 degrees with my way of thinking, but i don't feel comfortable continuing to argue with those who won't, and don't, acknowledge when they're positively wrong on some points.
Why would I say I was wrong when I dont feel that Im wrong? Couldnt then someone say the same thing to you? I could say that you wont admit youre wrong...but you dont feel that you are.
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)
