Blair's unpopular in the UK because of the war but ironically he only got the vote through parliament to go to war because the conservative opposition voted with him.
If you think Kerry as a politician was bad, he's positively of the stature of a Martin Luther King compared to Michael Howard, the leader of the conservative party. Voting has almost become pointless in Britain as the two main parties are too similar but the economy is doing well and Gordon Brown, the Chancellor who runs monetary policy and who is well to the left of Blair, is still reasonably popular.
