MARTHA STEWART WRITES FROM JAIL
Disgraced lifestyle guru Martha Stewart has penned her first letter behind bars since she entered a West Virginia prison to serve her sentence for lying about a suspicious stock sale.
The millionaire matriarch began her five-month term at Alderson federal prison camp on October 8, and wrote to her supporters on her Web site Marthatalks.com on Friday.
Stewart, 63, says, "It's fine ... pretty much what I anticipated. Everyone is nice -- both the officials and my fellow inmates.
"I have adjusted and am very busy. The camp is like an old-fashioned college campus -- without the freedom, of course.
"I'll be making postings now and then, but thank you for the concern and good wishes expressed in the thousands of emails you have recently sent to this Web site.
"I am also touched that supporters have already sent hundreds of letters to me at Alderson in my first week here."
Stewart was convicted in a New York court in March of lying to federal investigators about a suspicious sale of her ImCLONE shares and is pursuing an appeal while she serves time behind bars.
In her Web letter, Stewart asks fans to stop sending money and gifts and make donations to the American Cancer Society charity.
