Well, it's honestly difficult for me to answer that fairly.
I've only known one European and he actually had very good things to say about their health care. Of course, the opinion of one, would be a poor generalization too.
One VERY BIG frustration that I have with our heath care in America is that we allow HMOs to decide which medicines we have coverage for, how much is covered, and what pharmacy can fill our prescriptions. I would prefer that I and my doctors makes these decisions, not some business executives. I currently have two prescriptions in which I am taking half the dose recommended by my doctor because the insurance company won't cover more. I think that's BS.
BS yes, but its better to have an HMO then standing on line for hours to get in emergency rooms, or to have procedures.
I am on an HMO with drugs so expensive I would be eating dog food to buy them if I didn't get a break for at least 8 months when I run out of my co-pay on my plan. But on the other side i pay 0 for hospital surgery or clinic workups. My recent three procedures to find my breast cancer, then send t o alb some back and have second to remove cancer cost me nothing.
So darlin its a toss up. There is no perfect plan. I sell the scruff and have yet to find the perfect plan.
Are you covered by your employer? Explain your plan to me, and maybe I can help you out as I am supposed to be an "expert" though we never use that t word for fear of lawsuits based on our "expert opinions. lol
D
But...I do not know what the specific policies are in Europe.

But while I'm here I might just as well listen to the music and dance..
I do receive my health insurance from my employer and it is a good plan, generally speaking. I have 3-tier co-pay system. And, this is what burns me. Why not just raise the co-pay? Why not create another tier? No, I am just denied the coverage for the medications in the amounts that my doctor prescribes.
As I mentioned previously, I know that there are pluses and minuses to the various systems. So yes, perhaps the prescription drug coverage is better in one but, the trade-off is longer waiting periods for procedures or some such thing. And I'm not saying one is better than the other. I just can't fairly say which I would prefer, the US or the European plan, because I do not know the specifics regarding the European plan.
