CRIME-fighting Playboy bunnies led by a pyjama-clad superhero are set to hit TV screens in a new cartoon under development from MTV.

Hugh Hefner has leant his support and identity to the project, Hef's Superbunnies, Hollywood industry newspaper Variety reports.

Comic book pioneer and Spider-Man creator Stan Lee is already attached to the project and will make the pilot for MTV.

Hefner said that he agreed to the idea of an edgy, sexy animated series as soon as Lee proposed the idea.

The legendary Playboy boss said it was about time he revealed his real identity to the public.

"Late at night when everyone assumes I'm in the grotto living the good life, I'm out there with the Superbunnies, fighting evildoers," Hefner said.
