Difference between Harry Potter and the Chronicles post #1  quote:

ok well this can be used to show any differences really , some are obvious, but i guess im not really talking about books. You see in hp we can all talk about what we think will happen, and clues that might lead to something. but here we can't really do that. Just a thought

hmm, they are both magical worlds, but the Chronicles have to do with Christianity. The children in the Chronicles are much more innocent, less vulnerable in Narnia to death than the kids in the HP world. Even during the struggles, Narnia is a happy place. The books are not as dark as the HP series.

Chronicles seems to be directed to a younger audience than Harry Potter.

That's probably one of the reasons i didn't like them the second time round. They just didn't take you as high *or low for that matter* as LOTR did.

Daemon is right, HP is a mystery. We are still waiting to know why.

Yeah, Chronicles is something you read for enjoyment. HP is something you study, much like LOTR.

You have a point there Nathan, but for the most part, it is pretty straightforward. Harry Potter makes you think.

Chronicles was written at a time when you wouldn't find Rowling's mature sense of humour in the children's fantasy genre, and if you did, it most certainly would have been frowned upon. Most of the differences between the two sets of stories are owing to the era in which they were written. Although we may think that the Narnia stories are relatively tame compared to HP, the same may be said about Rowling's material in years to come when a new-age fantasy it's the literary scene.
