Super Bowl Winner Predictions post #1  quote:

Any predictions for winner of the Superbowl?

I see the Steelers pulling a suprise upset over the Raiders (deja vu?) ... and taking it over the Eagles in the Super bowl.

tuff to call post #3  quote:

I gotta say this is about as tuff a post season to call as I've ever seen!!

I can say this much though.. ..who ever wins between the raiders and jets is a pretty sure bet for the SB.

In the nfc.. ..well I'm a niner fan so I'm bias.. ..I really can't call this division. The eagles are looking pretty good, but they are set to change the qb position and atlanta is tuff when their game is on.

The tampa niner game is leaning toward tampa.. ..but if tampa's offense doesn't show up then they could beat. SF will score on them, but will it be enough....

..tuff to call any of it really!!

No one's looking for the Jets.

They're gonna crawl up from behind and pummel their opponents when they least expect it (like in the middle of a game).

Does no one see Oakland in the Superbowl? Jets? Really? No. By the way....the Niners have only been LUCKY......kinda like the patriots last year...except they won't win.

Raiders have been notorious in the past for blowing it or getting screwed when it really matters.

If you haven't watched the Jets - ya should - they have nothing to lose.

Titans looked pretty solid against the power of the Maddox cannon.

If Tampa can keep their defense up to the level it's at - they have have a great chance of shutting McNabb down. Their offence was also on fire until Johnson went out for a few plays. Pretty solid showing. Any offence is gonna have a hard time with a defense coming off a game like that.

Niners got whooped.

I don't think that Gruden and Tampa Bay will be able to stop the Raiders' offense enough to come out on top. It is almost always the stronger offensive team that wins the superbowl (Baltimore Ravens the exception.) The Raiders' game seems too tight and focused right now to be beaten. It will probably be the last Lombardi Trophy that Al Davis ever sees. Just Win Baby!

post #13  quote:

I'm not so sure JK.. ..as much as I'd like to Rice Garner and the rest of our bay area boys take it all I can't help but worry about Tampa's chances. Here's why..

..Strong defense is more important than offense. Less not forget last years bowl in which New Englands Defense proved more important by keeping the Rams amazing offense from over running them..

..Tamp's defense is #1 and they have proven they can crush strong offensive teams.

Tamp's offense has become quite potent in it's own right. They produced some big points in recent weeks and have done so agenst the likes of Philly who's defense is #2 in the NFC

Warm weather location. There will be no real home field advantage in the tropical sunshine of San Diego.

The Ace in sleeve of tampa though is Gruden and where he comes from. He knows the Raiders system inside and out up and down and every which way to sunday.. ..super bowl sunday that is.

I'm pullen for the Raiders but, taking a look at the big picture I'd say that Tampa is looking like they have the edge.

If Gruden knows the Raiders, then Callahan definitely knows Gruden. Also remember that there are many new Raiders this year, especially strong defensive ones that did not play under Gruden. Oakland will spread the ball all over the place.....even if Gruden knows what is coming, Tampa still has to stop it.

Oakland's defense is definitely no pushover, but it has been a long-term superbowl trend that the higher ranking offensive team wins.

Luck had nothing to with the Niner success last year, however judging by the raiders performance this year it would seem that luck and everything to do with their trip to the superbowl. As for the Patriots, again it would seem that there is more than luck behind the Bradey bunch.
