Spidey is supposed to be something like 5'10", not 5'7", and I don't know about anyone else, but I think I notice the difference on screen... Maybe I'm knit-picking...
I agree with you SD. He would have fit the role quite well too. Only his eyebrows would have needed trimming.

Well, in terms of body type, Tobey's body (yes, I'm male), looked decent for his build. And they always try to make him look taller than he is - at the end of the first movie, he's clearly standing on something becuase Dunst is looking up at him and his head is above hers when they kiss. He's on a hill so maybe she's one step below him if it's steep, not sure, would have to watch it again...or maybe they took a yellow pages and had him stand on it
I like Tobey in the movie though...I like him in it and they look cute together...as Peter and MJ...now see that's also the thing....they needed someone who could look like a nerd and a super-hero and Tobey pulls it off well....

did you guys know that james franco originally auditioned for spiderman but didn't get the part because he was 'too good-looking' and toby got it because hes not. 'tobey's a great actor but he's hard to look at' the director said

i can see why franco was too good-lookin...cute in the 1st film but man had he buffed up!! tall, broadshoulders and he wears a suit in most scenes...guys luk so cute in suits
