I got a haircut at a salon and my gay friend, who I hadn't seen in a couple of weeks, said he really liked it. It made me feel good, like, "Hey, here's somebody who appreciates that I don't look like a schlub!"
I certainly didn't feel like he was hitting on me. And I don't think that if I was the subject of a QESG that the Fab Five would hit on me, either. (After all, they would have a job to do.)
I've known my friend for more than 10 years, so I took what he said as a friendly compliment and nothing more than that.
Taking the time to get to know people who are "different" is the best way to accept and respect them, IMHO.
