Why are they doing a different version? The American one is not nearly past its prime yet. That's so strange. Plus, Carson, Thom, Kyan, Ted, and Jai have set high standards and expectations. Not to say that there aren't any men capable of doing just as good a job, it's a worry that "Queer Eye" might become a full franchise, instead of staying the clever, simple program it is now. And if it does become an industry, in a way, it will be good because it might mean more openess globally towards the gay community, but it could also mean a drastic alteration in some version and therefore a destruction of the original message. It just seems like NBC can't just be content with what they have, but has to look for bigger and better ways to exploit a current success. But I hope they realize that they more they push things, the more likely they are to flop, before it's too late.

Queer Eye UK Version Casts Finally Set

The casting process for the UK version of the hit bravo series "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is finally over, after four long months of juggling possible hosts. The resulting cast is made up of two Brits, Julian Bennett (fashion) and Tristan Eaves (grooming) along with Australians Dane Bailey (interior design) and Jason Gardiner (culture) and American Christopher Peyton (food and drink). The show has had a rough start so far, ditching several pilot episodes for straying too far from the show's original theme. Variety magazine reports that the UK version of the show will have an additional cast member, Bennett's pet miniature dachshund, Lulu. I guess Lulu will be the expert on self-cleaning tongue baths.

I think i had more to say but i forgot (got sidetracked) if i remember which i probably wont i'll post again

QE is popular because it's original, I've got a horrible feeling that the British guys are just gonna be trying to imitate the originals and from past experience that just doesn't work.

Cool post #5  quote:

I wasn't looking forward to our UK version of QE, but watched it to see Jason Gardiner - who has always been fantastic in Musicals!!! At first I really thought I was going to hate a new FAB 5, but to be honest, I now prefer our guys!!! No disrespect to the original US Fab 5 - cos I am loving their latest series too!!!!!!!

If you want info on out guys it is prob best to go to:-
http://www.livingtv.co.uk/queereyeuk/index.html

I also have a Jason Gardiner page on my website:-
