I'm graduated, with a portfolio, and eager to get out there and show off my skills. I live in Minnesota, a state that isn't getting much love on these forums, but I am posting this message anyway.
PM me here, or email me at: Sayzak21@yahoo.com if you are one who is hiring or know someone.
I don't have an online portfolio. I'm fresh out of school so I'm trying to work on more printable material so I can get a job. I'm not satisfied with my portfolio, but that's my nature as a perfectionist. If I'm ever satisfied, it's time to find another career path.
I need projects to get me motivated. I would really like to work as an intern somewhere for a awhile.
My portfolio doesn't represent me very well. If I were given a project and a time limit, that's where I shine. Something specific. Like a target to aim at, you know?
Yeah, but what style do you do? Vector, web design, photomanipulation, painting, etc..... Or if you don't have one style, what is your favorite? You a traditional artist or digital? If you would like (VERY) in-depth ctiriquing, PM me... I'm known for it
Well I grew up being a good artist in general. I could draw, paint, whatever. All my art went to the art fair when I was a kid. The only thing I ever practiced was drawing. Painting came naturally. Creativity in general comes naturally. It's just learning to use the media in front of me to bring an idea to life. All it takes is time. I don't have any favorites.
My wife is a graphic designer in the print field. I'll suggest to you the same thing I've suggested to her for building up your portfolio: make some stuff up. Seriously, imagine up a fictitious product, say a 6Ghz computer that is the size of a wristwatch that will knock the socks off the world. Now put together a complete marketing campaign for that product. Posters, cut sheets, corporate collateral (business cards, letter head, corporate logo, website). There's no better porfolio than one that shows your dynamic capabilities as a designer in ALL aspects of business, marketing and promotion. You don't need to intern under someone to use your imagination and create something from scratch.
That's where my head should be. I can come up with ideas... I have a pretty activeim agination, but putting those thoughts to work is another issue. I don't know if it's laziness or what. I just can't get excited to create something right now... When I am motivated I can do some pretty cool things. I'll be back. I'm going to go get a postcard I created for my school and scan it.
Hmmm, nevermind. I would have to remove the picture from the black posterboard it's taped to and it would be destroyed in the process. The copy I had on disk is stuck on disk until I find a Mac to upload it fom. If I attempted to access it through this PC it would erase everything.
Zak - I use to know this guy who worked as a designer... I think. He would create the logos that go on products and such. My family use to be friends with him but I have never seen him for maybe 5 years. I just remember him showing us an A1 Steak Sauce bottle and saying he creates the paper graphic that surrounds the actual bottle. If I still knew him or knew his where bouts I would tell you, but don?t know. We stopped being friends with him because he came to one of our parties and got completely drunk and just left. Didn?t even give us a gift (my moms birthday)
