I have never believed in censorship, but I believe in the right of people, who do. Janet's (and Justin's) act should have been performed, where people can exercise that right.

However, I don't believe in lying. C'mon Justin, "Shocked and Appalled". What about the phone call from Janet and from her choreographer, the day before the event?

Post Booby Trap..... post #122  quote:

Okie, just to let you guys in on some things. I live in Houston and am a performance artist and dominatrix. I work in the Montrose area which is a gay oriented part of the city. Right down about a block from my work is a Leather shop that caters to the more interesting style of fetish clothing. I even get some of my outfits worked on there. They claimed to have sold some stuff to Janet during the time she was here in Houston. A bra was bought and returned to them saying it wasn't exactly what they were looking for. They figure it was because the bra was too tall and would cover her nipple. The bra was a half cup bra and for someone with fuller breasts, that didn't sag, like Janet's, it would not cover their nipples. My friend a designer named Jade is the one who made the bra, it was made to go just under someone's nipples. If you would like to see this same bra on ebay, look to this link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&category=29881
You might want to cut and paste the entire address if it does not appear as a perfect link. Also, when I was looking at the pictures, having a designing background and really being into the intricacies of fetish clothing, I noticed that her bra is a snap away bra. Those pretty little studs and red rhinestones, those are ornamental snaps, look closely at the "ripped off" part or the bra where it was ripped from and you will see that they are snaps. I definitely agree with the person that said it is just an ornamental edging on the bra, that is what it looks like to me. Also, being someone with nipple piercings and wanting nipple shields for myself, I would wear them even under a bra, except the sun one is kinda dangerous with a normal bra because it would get caught on the material and rip out the nipple piercing. I am also a trained piercer by the way. This also helps in the idea that the red was just an accent because the nipple shield would not catch on the leather of the bra that she was wearing, but it would if that red part was a full bra. So, in essence, I am saying, duh, if you think this is an accident, you are a huge moron! But on the other side, I do agree that performances of this type should be in places geared for that style of performance. I do many different types of fetish performing from just go go dancing to burlesque, to Japanese rope bondage and even piercing shows, but I do the performances where it is expected. These shows are done at nightclubs, bars, strip clubs, international fetish events and large raves. I am even doing a Mardi Gras party soon. All these are venues where it is expected, the Super Bowl is not where it is expected. I also agree that you should be able to be open with your kids. The act that took place was neither disgusting or degrading, just put in the wrong place. As far as I am concerned, they did a great job doing what they were doing and probably would've gotten rave reviews if it was done in the right place. Not only did people not flip out about Lil Kim's outfit, many people gave her compliments, but Lil Kim did in on a more agreeable channel or event and also does not have sagging breasts. Janet on the other hand, did it in front of thousands of children and well, lets just say her breasts didn't look their best. Now that I have agreed and disagreed with everyone's views, take all of this on for food for thought......

For a country that sees nothing wrong with invading a country full of innocent people in the hopes of finding one man, the American public sure took the high road regarding the Janet Jackson Superbowl stunt. What makes it infinately more ridiclous is that there are people trying to make money from it by suing the parties involved. I wonder if they would consider donating some of the millions of dollars they will most likely earn from such a disgusting act of greed to the rebuilding of Iraq?

I just remembered over the weekend, the MTV Europe Awards. OK, yes it was MTV, but it was shown on UK's normal TV stations. And OK, it was Europe and the Eurpoeans can be frivolous with their bodies.

Anyway ... Travis (a band) did a song with about 50 people around the band on the stage holding signs over themselves. The signs were about body length and at the end of the song, all these 50 people lifted their signs up in the air and they were nude underneath. TOTALLY AND UTTERLY NUDE!!!!!!!!! Men and women, fattties and thinnies, all with their bits out flapping in the breeze.

This was broadcast to a lot of the world and shown at prime time, although travis were the 2nd last act to perform on the night so it was like 10.00 pm by the time they were on. Some old grannies complained, but mostly there was not a lot of uproar about it. I think they were singing a protest somg of some kind as well, which seems to lessen people anger at stupidity.

Also I wonder: Have you never had a streaker at the Superbowl?

Let's go with this freak show. It's outrageous.

i have read a few of these messages and some keep saying....

"why would she be wearing a star if it wasnt planned"......

it is called a nipple piercing many people have them all in different styles and colors, her just happened to be the shape of a sun. If you ever see a close up pic. of it look at her left breast which is covered up you can see the outline of another sun "shield" on her other breast. so in other terms it is a peircing oh well, and who cares honestly.

KJ said this in post #106 :

I happen to know a dad and his 6 year old son that were at the game on Sunday. Now, was it appropriate for the child to view that? I don't think so. Did he actually see it? Does it matter? He was there... and there were hundreds of children there... they didn't need to view such a thing.
Sure, you would expect that on Mtv, but not at the super bowl.
.

Yeah.... that 6 year old kid must have been mortified, I mean.. it must have been only 4-5 years ago that he was sucking on his own mothers breast, and now he gets to see a couple of seconds of a strangers breast...... I can only hope that young boy is not scarred forever........ it may be another 10 years before he gets to see another breast for real..... and maybe even longer before he gets to suck on it. Breasts are sexual for people that see it as such, and functional for others ( such as babies). It's part of the human body, and from this side of the pond makes up a large part of the culture in the US's view of women. USA citizens.. stop finding stupid reasons to be angry, you appear ridiculous.

DrPoke... I'm not angry over the situation!!
Actually, I'm sick of it...
Anyway... to any of us who felt it was inappropriate, that's OUR decision.

Wow DrPoke, I detect a hint of sarcasm in your post...wonder why that is.
I think the point Kris was trying to make was that though ANY part of the human body is not offensive, the depiction of behavior was not appropriate for the forum it was in. Exp: Would it have been appropriate for an act such as that at a televised royal wedding? No. Would it be appropriate during an MTV awards show? Yes. During the Superbowl? No.
It's not a matter of "scarring" children. Get off your pretentious high horse, you're not talking to a bunch of prudes here. It is our opinion that it wasn't appropriate for the setting. If it were, we wouldn't have heard all the apologies for it.
