I didn't know of another "Rainbow Connection" either, but I always liked most anything Karen Carpenter sang ... ( Maybe her brother would be a good guest judge.)
The only "American Dream" I recall is the version "The Engineer" sings in Miss Saigon

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
fuscia said this in post #16 : The Rainbow Connection? I associate that with Kermit the Frog. We must be thinking of different songs.
No, Fuscia, that's the same song.
It was sung by Kermit in The Muppet Movie but Judy Collins took it high onto the Billboard charts afterwards and released it on only one of her albums. Judy's version is VERY good.
Quite a few artists have recorded it but not a lot of people have heard Karen Carpenter's version because it has never been released in this country. Paul Williams actually wrote it with Karen in mind.

I'm sorry, Oldbutafan & Others .............
My memory is not what it used to be. Sometimes I trust it too much and come up short. Like now.
The correct name of the Paul Simon song is "American TUNE", not American Dream.
