Question Who's your driver...Why? post #1  quote:

Well I'm a first time poster/thread starter so I might as well get that out of the way.
Ok, I am a Jimmie Johnson fan. I like to watch his style of aggresive driving and I think he has great sponsorship. I also feel that Jimmie is going to be around for quite a while.
I used to root for Harry Gant and Alan Kulwicki, so it's been a while since I actually could say I had a favorite. Do I dis-like any driver? No not really, I feel there are a few whiners out there and some that should just retire (Kyle Petty & Terry Labonte as ex. ) and let the new Guys take over. One would have to admit, Johnson, Newman, Busch, Kenseth, Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. keep things interesting.

I was told that I wasn't a true NASCAR fan because I didn't have a favorite driver. So I picked on, Cayle Yarborough, then Richard Petty. I just plain love NASCAR, but there are some that I seem to always root for. Bobby Labonte, and Jr., Tony Stewart and Dale Jarrett.

Each racing venue is different in it's own way. Many Rally or Road Course fans don't understand the excitement in NASCAR until they have watched a few races. Imagine if you will, 43 cars, racing for 500 miles around a high banked super speedway like Daytona or Charlotte at over 190 mph all seperated by only a few seconds. Each car only inches apart, many times even coming together or touching. The turbulance each car makes can cause havoic on the car behind it. A mistake can be disasterous and claim a dozen or so cars.

Each speedway is different. On the short tracks like Bristol or Dover the speeds are less, averaging a mear 140 mph but there is more bumping and bashing as you vie for position.

They even race on a few road courses like Watkins Glen or Sears Point.

We have nicknames for some of these speedways too like, "The Monster Mile", "The Rock" or "The track that's too tough to tame."
We have nicknames for some of the drivers too like Richard "The King" Petty, the late Dale "The Intimidator" Earnhardt, "Awsome Bill from Dawsonville" Elliot. Rookies are called the "Young Guns."

There is a reason why NASCAR has passed NFL Football as America's Favorite Sport.

Jeff Gordon is my favorite.

Ryan Newman is my least favorite nothing against the guy he's one helluva driver, but he so damn boring. Has anyone ever watched one of his interviews, I did'nt know if he was awake or napping. It's kind of funny cause the commentators try to joke with him but that goes nowhere fast. One thing people can say about is that is very serious about racing.

Talking 24 Fan post #13  quote:

I am a Jeff Gordon fan. I have followed Jef thru all of his NASCAR and Bush years. I think he is a great driver and I also feel that he listens to other drivers to gain knowledge each time he goes out. He is a very talented driver.

The only negative thing I have seen about him is that he used to always thank God for his success in NASCAR. He does not seem to do that any more. He needs to remember who helps him win races.
